If anyone has info on what led to the thrift store shooting, can you link / post it here? Thanks.
Wow, I just checked the Maryland US Courts website and apparently jury selection in the Lackl murder trial is scheduled to last four days. Kudos to the US Attorney's Office for all the hard work they must have to put into this case.
This type of conduct exhibited by the killers of Carl Lackl is, I think, why we still need a limited use of the death penalty. The main defendant orders the killing from jail; and they get an adolescent to do the actual killing. Unless, society is willing to protect its witnesses (as Lackl was), we cannot expect the justice system to function at all or anybody to want to come to court to testify. As it is now, even for minor cases, relatively, often the defendants friends, families, and lackeys appear in court and sometimes their mere presence can intimidate witnesses.
The killing on Baltimore Street was very close, geographically, to the murder Friday night on South Eaton Street. I think both were kinda close to Sean's house too.
It's sad that we let violent hoodlums off with slaps on the wrist while wasting resources on people like this who commit victimless crimes. At least he didn't get any jail time and didn't have his farm seized.
