Two victims were in Federal Hill, one of them was Keyva Bluitt, 35, dumped on Battery Ave.
Another was 23-year-old Marcus Caldwell, found last night dead in a minivan.
Still trying to figure out who the others were; some victims were probably fatalities from last week's 22 shootings. Fortunately Ditkoff's on it!
.. and apparently it's the waning gibbous moon that makes death come ...

The most recent murder ( by Pennsylvania Ave. ) can be found here.
Tack on two additional murders, one in East Arlington (West Side) and another in Washington Village (South Balto).
FYI, the victim of the in-car rubout in Federal Hill, Kevya Bluitt of Better Waverly, has prevously been convicted of, inter alia, armed robbery.
Under the Maryland Code, § 3-403, he should have been sentenced to up to 20 years. He got three, less parole terms and was back out rather quickly. Had he been more satisfactorily sentenced, he might be alive today.
Mr. Bluitt was also named in two paternity suits. At least we won't have to worry about him replicating anymore.
As a Federal Hill resident- who was mugged at sunset in the park (people walking dogs, kids playing in the park), I have been PISSED that there are no patrols of the park. It should be like shooting fish in a barrel for them! People are smoking blunts at 7pm! And the 'bar district'- Yes, they have a presence now (after the Sowers incident), but after 2am you are on you own!
Why does the park in FH deserve special patrols when there are so many other parks that are virtually devoid of police presence? I'm not trying to be a dick, but does the fact that houses in FH are worth a lot more than houses in East Baltimore mean FH Park deserves more cops than Ellwood Park?
I'm sorry- and I agree. My comment was a bit selfish and inconsiderate. However- I do live here. I would expect outrage from citizens in other neighborhoods when they are subject to such crimes. I hope the police do not base their vigilance on affluence (yeah, right!).
sm8273,
Does your police district (Southern) hold monthly community meetings? If so, I recommend that your community association put together a letter which outlines all of the crime hotspots and submit it to the Major in person. It's not a perfect system, but I believe that our letters have been effective in dealing with some trouble spots in our community.
Also encourage as many of your neighbors as possible to attend these community meetings.
If you are looking for more patrols in FH, you've got them. The police are all over FH like white on rice. (Get it, white rice?) Police in the park, police in the cars, police blocking the streets and police traveling the wrong way down the one way street. Ask and ye shall receive. Now the neighborhood is police ,which I hope will teach the residents it is better to be proactive than reactive. I wonder how long the FH residents stared at the ne'er-do-wells hanging around the blue Toyota in the middle of the street before deciding to do absolutely nothing about it.
