  1. The dancers were Bolivian - "Raices de Bolivia." It was my first Mayor's Christmas parade and I was impressed. It kept going and going. I loved all the marching bands and especially the Mummers String Bands.

  2. Anyone read the article in yesterday's Sun about kids dealing drugs? This particular bit really got to me.

"At 16, Smith was arrested and charged as an adult with attempted murder. In that brutal case, Shaffer said, he pleaded guilty in June 1998 to firing a gun into the face of a man whose car he was trying to steal.

He was sentenced to 12 years and released from a prison in Hagerstown in early 2005. Within a few months, Smith was Cutthroat's co-leader."

Gee, maybe our horrendous crime rate has to do with the fact that you can shoot someone in the face and be out of prison in under seven years.

  3. Seven? If you're young, you can be out in three with parole.

Do you perceive a trend? Could this be why our murders seemed to drop during the O'Malley years ??

  7. O'Malley was also booed on 36th street. I thought people would boo Dixon too, but it was dead quiet. Did anyone notice it smelled like McDonalds when "Ronald" came by?
