Red Light Cameras-- PSA

F your I, the Department of Transportation has added some new red light cameras. "Phase I" cameras click and flash, but the new "Phase II" cameras don't-- they just look like glass bubbles. i don't think any of those cameras are actually new. i've been seeing pretty much all of those ones for at least a year now, possibly longer.

I think red light cameras are great; I was living in Columbia when they were introduced and people stopped running red lights pretty quickly.

no seriously, the phase ii ones have been up for at least a year or two, i've been driving through many of those intersections pretty regularly for a long time. and i remember finding that exact same list on the dept. of transportation's website a long time ago as well, because i was trying to make a map of them (never actually finished it though, i guess i got distracted by something else).

for instance, erdman ave & macon st. i worked at bayview from august 2004 to november 2006, so i drove through that intersection every day (starting in october of 2004 when i bought my car and stopped taking the bus) and i can't remember there ever NOT being a camera there.
