Another strangled woman was found on Monday, the fifth since April. Police have created a squad to investigate, and have seemingly changed their tune from "the cases aren't related" to "it is way too early to tell if any of the cases are related."

Carolyn Pierce of the E: Wendell Keys, 40, of Gwynn Oak, is being tried in a cold-case rape that detectives cracked using DNA from a woman abducted outside a Linthicum nightclub almost 18 years ago.

Of course, there is the other weather-caster still on the air on 13, who told the judge that he was "working on a story" about prostitution, and told the undercover woman officer, "I'm trying to get inside your head". That's a somewhat cleaned-up version of what the officer (who made many arrests of johns) said he said. (Perhaps a little coaching from his lawyer and a little winking and nodding by the judge, Buz thinks)? And, pp, he tried to drive away and got the Vice sergeant hooked up in his car trying to make the arrest, until the sergeant let him examine the working end of a .38 caliber snubnose. The on-the-air personality then pulled over and submitted to the arrest. I am not making this up.
ReplyDeleteIn the Northen District this week, robbery at the RoFo, commercial burglary at Charles & 25th, assault/robbery on Greenmount, a nasty assault/robbery at Greenmount in Guilford, and a lot of breaking-in at the City's recreation facilities in Hampden. And not a few cars stolen, either.

ReplyDeleteActually, given the amount of violence (as we have seen recently) directed at prostitutes, it can be a risky and dangerous job. She always had at least three other vice squad members near her.
ReplyDeleteOne of them, her sergeant, tried to get Marty's car into park, but the weatherman started to drive away (this is a common vehicle-arrest malady). So, the sergeant kinda got pulled along at slow speed a bit, and ended it with a display of gun.

ReplyDeleteAh, from what I understand (and I'm no expert) car thieves often look for cars that can be chopped for parts. Maybe it's easier to sell parts for the cars you mentioned? Either that or they could be stupid punks who're joyriding, and they go for cars that're likely to have crappy or non-existent security features. Excellent reason to buy The Club BTW.
