Doug the Plumber?

Could Gansler get a "plumb" job in the Obama DOJ? A Trib blogger speculates

In seven states, public defenders are revolting.

and in New Mexico, scanning prisoners' brains ISO the origins of psychopathy.

... speaking of, Mark Castillo, who admits to killing his three kids to spite their mother, is challenging the terms of his divorce agreement.

"I think I know that you'll be in custody somewhere."

Given the murders happened in Baltimore, I'm honest suprised he hasn't been paroled yet. I'm sure that happen soon enough when he's found guilty and given the death penalty with all but 1 a year suspended.

We need to empower judges so that can declare stuff like this the "height of jackassery" and fire the plaintiff and possibly the attorney out of clown cannon.

Protective order database? Greeaaat.

Not sure how that protective order does you any good when the asshole in question is kicking in your back door at 2am looking to settle the score in his head.

Sebastian, that's what the police are for. Jesus, for its problems Baltimore is still in the 1st world.

The police are great at taking care of that sort of thing once they get there.

I've dialed 911 for everything from shootings on my street to drug dealing. For things like shootings, the average response time is 4-5 mins or so. For drug dealing, 20-30 mins on average.

In any event, the time from your back door to your bedroom is usually a LOT less than 4-5 mins. In fact, it's usually a lot less than 2 mins.

You better be ready in case the bad guy gets there before the police do, which will be 99% of the time.

The idea that the police can protect women who have psycho stalker ex'es who want to harm isn't just wrong--it's dangerously stupid.

You'd think stories of women being battered, stalked, and yes, killed despite having protective orders might not have registered. So Wise, indeed.

Ladies, at the very least get a big dog, an alarm, and some pepper spray.

The protective order database is there because at 2AM when everyone has a case of Bud Light in their system and somebody has just hit somebody else over the head with a frying pan, nobody is really sure who has a protective order against whom. A quick computer search can make things clear as a bell.

Wow, did anyone read this part of the Mark Castillo article?

"At a recent hearing in the divorce case, Castillo appeared to suggest that he might seek a portion of the money his wife received during an outpouring of public sympathy, as well as retirement savings and unspecified insurance money."

Un-frikkin-believable. That subhuman piece of trash clearly has absolutely no remorse about what he did. Is it too late for PJ to seek the death penalty against him?

Mark Castillo is all about Mark Castillo all the time. Narcissism at its very worst.

Every action he takes is a war against his exwife for putting him out. Its not enough that he brutally killed his 3 kids, he still isn't done hurting her. Even in the Maryland prison system , the man is singularly focused. He's a psychopath.

More typical Baltimore crap in Pigtown.

This is exactly why the police department gets so little cooperation.

This town is a joke. And a bad one.

We need intervention from a higher-level government. Something like martial law.

Has someone actually asked the questions as to why there are so many protective orders issued in MD? Has anyone figured out that its a purely and strictly a legal maneuver to get the upper hand in custody cases? And because of the Violence Against womens Act, do you actually think that men can get them against women? Oh and one more, do you actually think that protective orders will stop the only 2 guys cited when there are so many issued?
Let's get real folks. It's all B.S.

Sebastian, the logical fallacy of misleading vividness makes the baby Jesus cry.

As I've said before, I believe that Baltimore has hit the point where vigilantism is morally acceptable. If I witnessed an otherwise law-abiding citizen dish out a bit of extra-judicial punishment against a hoodlum, pimp or drug-dealer I would not report it, and if questioned by the cops I'd say I saw nothing.

Slip, who are you asking? And if you think it is all B.S., why even bother asking questions? You've already come to a conclusion.

What makes the baby Jesus cry is the persistence of preening ninnies who lack the moral clarity to accept that things they themselves lack the intestinal fortitude to do are the very things that need be done to save our city.

In other words...yeah, until we stand up and A) demand better from our elected officials and B) live in a society that let's people take care of themselves when govt can't do the job for whatever reason (and yes, that includes self defense from criminals like men violating protective orders to go after exes), crap ain't gettin better around here.

The sooner you get used to that idea, the sooner we can actually get to the "news for grownups" part.

There's another thing we need to do that a lot of people find distasteful, and that is punish criminals very very harshly. We need to be willing to send people away to rot in prison for decades, or (if I had my way) take them out back and shoot them. There are a lot of violent young men out there who are simply incapable of living in a civilized society and the only way to deal with them is long-term incarceration or execution.
