The BCGJ returned two indictments charging Baltimore City police officer Walter Jackson-Hill, 36, of York, Pennsylvania with two counts of Bribery, two counts of Extortion by Government Employee and two counts of Misconduct in Office. Jackson is accused of taking cash bribes in exchange for failing to appear in court.
The BCGJ returned an indictment charging Baltimore City police officer Che Christopher Jackson, 35, of Randallstown, with one count of Felony Theft. If convicted Jackson could be sentenced to up to 15 years and/or fined $25,000. The indictment alleges that between January 4 and January 6 Jackson removed four 20-inch Rox Fossill rims and four Wanli tires valued at $1800 from a 2000 Cadillac Deville belonging to Lisa Smith. Ms Smith's vehicle had been seized as a result of an investigation into a shooting. The rims and tires were removed while the vehicle was being stored at the Northeastern police district. The tires and rims were subsequently located on a 1999 Cadillac Deville belonging to Jackson.

The Ink recounts last week's seven murders. In case you haven't heard, crime is up in every category in Baltimore (by 4 percent city-wide, says the Sun) and we're up to 86 homicides.

Scary: a man trying to call 911 about an assault in progress was transferred four times and hung up on by operators.

O'Malley's a whiny lil' bitch !
Nothing's ever his fault, is it ?
Fire this Commissioner and keep the deputy mayors out of the relacement's face. Hire a sufficient number of cops (over a thousand at this point) by any means necessary. asap
Glad I don't do heroin.
Another Baltimore night.... only here can I go to a bar and get the whole bar into a brawl because some guy wants to be macho.
Here's a Baltimore equation:
Alcohol+ego+any Baltimore inner city neighborhood = chaos, or divide with stupidity and you get assault with a remainder of murder
Wow, Liz, what were you wearing?!
LMfao, actually i was wearing a care bears t-shirt and old jeans... that just screams sex appeal.... actually he was arguing with ME, and I don't think he liked the fact he was arguing with a woman and losing.
so who got assaulted? It all sounds like something out of a Patrick Swayze movie.
The Messenger also wrote about the reassigned Northern District commander. Here's an excerpt and the link: Lukasik is "being made the scapegoat," said William Miller, executive director of the Greater Homewood Community Corp.
"The basic fact is that the Northern District is seriously understaffed and this is a problem that was beyond his control," Miller wrote in an e-mail. "Those of us who worked with Maj. Lukasik were impressed by his responsiveness, professionalism and hard work."

While Lukasic has his own limitations, certainly no Commander can be faulted for being supplied with inadequate manpower.
The Police Commissioner, on the other hand, {ahem} who allows his workforce to fall below a reasonable staffing level needs to be fired.
Fire a municipal employee in Baltimore for incompetence? No, we give raises for that, y'know.
Wait, galt, weren't you calling him "Invisible Steve" a few months ago?
Yep. And he was.
BUT, he wasn't 'transferred' for that reason. He was transferred because Lenny gave him 100 guys to work with, and he couldn't turn a sow's ear into a silk purse.
First, give each district commander sufficient staff; then, crucify them if they serve poorly.
I've ALWAYS said Northern needs more manpower. They should have 300 men (total) on the Greenmount corridor alone.
