January 25

In murder news, an unidentified man [24] was shot to death yesterday morning near Madison Ave. and Bloom St. Tio Floyd [23] was killed in the 1700 block of E. Biddle St. at 10:30 on Tuesday night. At 8:00 Tuesday night, Ronald Lewis [22] was shot to death in McCulloh Homes, which is located nine blocks south of where yesterday's killing occurred. David Thomas [21] was the victim of a shooting on Brighton St. in Rosemont on Monday night.

More on Isaiah Simmons III, the boy who died after a violent outburst at Bowling Brook Prep.

A 16-year-old boy was shot in East Baltimore.

You'd think after two other escapes, they'd know to keep a close eye on Terrence Washington, or Terrance, or whatever his name is.

The carjacking mentioned here a few days ago is in today's Blotter.

The P.G. County Deputy Director of Homeland Security shot two alleged furniture delivery men.

HoCoPoPo are offering a grand to anyone who helps them catch the guy who robbed a Chevy Chase bank in Ellicott City on Monday afternoon.

The Sun reports that Jessamy's high-fivers were "reassigned."

Yikes. WJZ reports that "many young girls are looking up to Baltimore's first ever female mayor for inspiration." And WBAL blows our mind with this shocker: "Jailing Violent Repeat Offenders Key To Safety."

Two bills in Annapolis will replace the Maryland death penalty with life in prison without parole.

I'm glad to see women getting an equal chance to ef up the city! But isn't it kind of sexist to idolize her just because she's a mayor with a vag? Shouldn't she DO something first?

Speaking of vajayjays, the E published my letter!

Just playing devil's advocate here, but has there ever been a study that shows worse outcomes for babies whose delivery is induced?

"Shouldn't she DO something first?"

As city council president she managed to funnel contracts to friends and family members and got away with it. Does that count as an accomplishment?

Apparently Stephen Amos is going to get a couple hundred thousand dollars from the state, after an investigation by the US Attorney's Office wrecked his life a few years ago.

Ok, "most irresponsible" is quite a statement, considering.

But since you asked, non, yes,
there are REAMS of studies showing worse outcomes and increased risk for baby and mom, including, but not limited to profound fetal distress from uterine hyperstimulation; uterine rupture; amniotic fluid embolism, which has a high maternal and infant mortality rate; severe genital bleeding and cervical injury; a 40 percent increase in the risk of umbilical cord prolapse (which can lead to fetal death); shock; retained placenta; slow fetal heart rate; postpartum hemorrhage; a five-fold chance of a cesarean section; a higher rate of passage of meconium (baby poop) into the amniotic fluid, which can cause a type of newborn pneumonia if inhaled; and a higher incidence of fetal and maternal death. Here's more, and more studies specifically on misoprostol.

i didn't know this one: "Oxytocin (Pitocin) crosses the placenta and enters the blood and brain of the fetus within seconds or minutes, and there appears to be a correlation between fetal exposure to oxytocin and autism in the exposed offspring."

And it's worth adding that there's no recommended dose for Pitocin or misoprostol. It's trial and error, and you just have to hope that whoever's on duty knows what they're doing.

Aren't you sorry you asked?

It's also worth noting that the FDA has not approved any drug to induce labor unless the mom or the baby's health is in peril, because the benefits must outweigh the risks. What the Bear Fan's OB did was go against the AMA, FDA and ACOG to subject patient and her child to a host of risks, including death, for no benefit.

happens all the time, but that don't make it right!

Regarding the notion that "many young girls are looking up to Baltimore's first ever female mayor for inspiration."

They REALLY need to downgrade their expectations, 'cause that woman's useless.

Webster's Dictionary: [Disappointment - see Dixon, Sheila (Baltimore politician) ]

I'll tell you why it doesn't happen:

If some hoody scumbag pulls a gun on a storekeeper he gets 90 days plus the balance suspended because it's only his 185th offense and he has potential to be "such a good boy..."

If, however, the storekeeper pulls a gun on him, the storekeeper is told he'll get 40 years, no parole with a bisexual serial rapist for a cellmate.

No kiddin', I've seen this.

That's why.

See, i didnt make that up about that CARJACKING on
Jefferson Street!!!! Drive around
here sometime (dont walk) and see for yourself.

Iam totally amazed that it even made it to PRINT!!! As far iam concerned.........
i read somewhere on here... in a earlier post that said ".......
"We're already starting to see this, gentrification will start in many neighborhoods and eminent domain will start to play in a lot of real estate transactions. Since the supreme ct. ruling last year that upheld a blighted area can be taken for public use (that use being a mall or multi use office building)".

HOPKINS (the hospital) had this plan in effect for years........ How could one of the best HOSPITALS in the country be surrounded by blight?????? and yes, money speaks LOUDLY no doubt!!!!!!!
My house could easily sell for $250K if it was placed on E. Baltimore Street /S.Belnord / S. Linwood .... just a few short blocks from me ....... and just because its so blighted on this block it goes for a PALTRY $70,000
and i guess i would have to take less or maybe give in / and move for the reasons of continued neglect........... also, moving on to this comment ".....

"And again, I don't see ANY difference in the police presence between so-called Baltimore A and B. Jeez, all these neighborhoods are friggin right next to each other! Charles Village is right between Remington and Worser Waverly, etc..."

Baltimore A ...... over on this side would be CANTON , BUTCHERS HILL and any other section the city would like to re-name for the YUPPY EFFECT. ....stay well protected (lol) ...and are REALLY CLOSE BY.. A blue light that was just taken down ........ which was in stones throw of a brand new development
on E.Fayette call the Townes Of "something" starting at (400K)........ is located in a former "B" section , now have visible patrols....As soon as that development went up, the cameras vanished into thin air.... Trust me, the citizens over in CANTON / BUTCHERS HILL feel safe........
they have ROUND THE CLOCK protection (lol) Not just the 3 to11shift like us over here in "McElderry" and those same OFFICERS are suppose to protect me as well... not the EASTERN district which one would think!!!

The funny thing about the Bluelights... I have guys dealing right around the base of them because they cannot see within their own immediate vicinity.
