October 19

At about 2 a.m. an officer in the Southern found a man shot to death in the driver's seat of a Ford Explorer in the 4200 block of Audrey Ave., and
The shooting reported here yesterday on Walbrook Avenue turned out to be a fatal one, and two suspects were apprehended after a car chase.
(But if the shootee is dead, how can we know they didn't consent to the shooting? After all, sadomasochists sometimes like that kind of thing... Thanks Galt)

A man walked into Lowell Liquors in the 3200 block of Woodland Ave. (near Park Heights Avenue) last night and shot three men ages 19, 20 and 29. The 19-year-old was treated and released, conditions of the other three are unknown.
Emory Lewis
Police are still looking for Emory Lewis, left, wanted for the September 8 murder of Felicia Spratley.

Nationwide, "the Supreme Court’s decision to review the constitutionality of lethal injection procedures has slowed the annual number of executions to the lowest level in a decade."

Dwayne Price, 18, was charged yesterday in connection with the rapes of an 88-year-old cancer patient and a 73-year-old woman in South Baltimore in September of 2005.

Four federal child pornography cases have led to the indictments of Larry Cordell of Frederick and Stephen Michael Gayer of Baltimore, a guilty plea from John Ray Manning of McHenry and a 30-year sentence for Fabrice Snowden of Edgewood.

Parking tickets are big business for the city! Says Janis, "In current fiscal year 2008, the city expects to write $12 million worth of tickets and collect $8 million in fines."

Speaking of big business... OC ho's busted
(wow all these online ho's could keep a department busy! <-don't open that link at work)

Lt. Col. William H. Steele of AAC was found not guilty of aiding the enemy by loaning an unmonitored cell phone to an inmate in Iraq, but was found guilty of unauthorized possession of classified documents, behavior unbecoming an officer and failing to obey an order. More details here.

Remember MoCo cracker-hater Quinton Thomas, whose "REAL TALK" to a wrong address got him convicted of the fatal shooting of Stephen W. Kelley? He was sentenced to life without parole.

Dwayne Price is one sick fuck if it turns out he's guilty. Hopefully prison is a rough place for perverts who rape old ladies. Don't drop the soap...

Quinton Thomas is a prime example of why we need capital punishment. The guy was in jail and was still trying to get people killed. Clearly he will be a threat to society for as long as he is alive.

Two more murders to add to the list from Southern District.

Vice cops should stop wasting their time on online hookers. Prostitutes who sell their services on the street have a far greater impact on people's quality of life. If a prostitute advertises her services on Craigslist and conducts her business in private she's not really hurting anyone.

I find the attention of this Balt Co assault case interesting.

Bottom line: the State couldn't prove it's case.

The State has amazing resources at its disposal, and yet it couldn't provide ANY explanation of why this "assault" victim didn't appear in court. Using its investigatory resources it couldn't tell the judge that the victim had been threatened, bribed, or otherwise forced not to come to court.

I, for one, dig the concept of proof beyond a reasonable doubt (even though it's rarely applied correctly), and I applaud this judge for calling a spade a spade: without the alleged victim testifying that he or she didn't want to be touched, the judge or jury would be forced to speculate whether this touching was wanted, and this simply isn't permitted in American criminal courts.

Blame the State for not presenting a good case OR blame the "victim" for not coming to court... but don't blame a judge who has balls to call a spade a spade.

You've got a point there.
I mean, there are women out there who get beaten up repeatedly by guys and they keep going back, and at some point it surely is negligence, and couldn't you argue consent? And if you're not into that dynamic the first time it happens is going to be the last. It takes two alco/rage-o-holics to tango (and scar their children for life).

I used to have a friend who, every relationship she was in, always involved screaming drunk fights, throwing dishes and so on. She liked the drama and seemingly had no interest in dating normal people.

I guess when it comes to the law, though, there are a lot of cases where it protects people even when they don't want to be protected. Like, you can't help someone commit suicide, ferinstance, no matter what kind of consent they give you.

ncdco,

Where exactly do you live? Victims not coming to court or cooperating with the prosecution...hmmm there's a new concept in a city where the best selling DVD was "Stop Snitching." Also please tell me more about these "amazing resources at its (State's) disposal" - I work in the system and have yet to see them. - Marc
