Last year the US carried out 43 executions. I don't know how many murders there were that year but in 2010 we were at just under 13,000. For all practical purposes the death penalty does not exist. Don't expect the liars at Amnesty International to tell you that though.
Also, if you truly believe that North Korea had fewer executions than the US did then I've got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.
