Fun w/Guns

Illos from the cover of this
Shot an AR-15 in .223, a 9 mm, a .22 and some other kind of old-school rifle at the Hap Baker Range in Carroll County this morning with co-blogger TAB and some other guys. This just in: rifles are loud and shotguns are louder. If you've got some firearms and you're itchin to shoot em, it's byo guns,  ammo and ear protection, you can buy targets and soda there, and while their web site shows the address in an office building, it is actually on the 140 W in the landfill, which, remarkably, does not smell any stranger than anything else in Carroll County.

Oh NOOOOOOOS!!! You're going to turn into a blood-thirsty gang-banger now that you've actually firead an evil black rifle!!! Don't you know that GUNS cause all the crime? And now you've joined the crazy gun nut side. Soon, I'm sure, your blog will be nothing but tales of your own gun-related exploits--car jackings, mugging little old ladies, drive-by's, sticking up Korean Liquor Stores.

You poor thing.

It's a good thing that you can't get a carry permit in Maryland, or we'd all be at risk from your future murderous predations.

Everyone knows that the ONLY people in MD who need to have firearms are police, the super-wealthy, and the well-connected--because THOSE people are ALL just SOOOOO much more trustworthy than an average citizen...

(sarcasm OFF)

lol@Anonymous. :)

also...go to Freestate, over on 43. they rent a whole mess of firearms and you can shoot .223 indoors. they're also open 10-10 during the week. the range is new, with active target systems, better ventilation than Continental, and the employees aren't the sort of breathe-down-your-neck range officers that drive customers away.

oh, and they allow head shots and targets with faces on them (like the zombie targets that have become popular in recent years), unlike Continental.

oooo, Zombie targets! Sold! If only they had tin cans, or an outhouse door that opens when you hit a target on a frying pan, a la the one at Funland @ Rehoboth in years past...

and remember, kids, guns don't kill people... bullets do.

HAH, that would be fantastically fun. pity it won't happen in Maryland. as it is, to shoot anything more than paper, steel, or clay you'd have to find someone with private land.

and no, bullets don't kill people. :P they're just chunks of metal. cartridges are more dangerous, since they include gunpowder and primer. [/picky]

we really need a quality laser-tag facility in this town. With putt-putt. Where you can carry along a bucket of ponies.

hello 1997. that was the last time we had decent laser tag.

Nah, you can TOTALLY bludgeon someone to death with a gun. Not that I would know...
