What is it about joining the Christian clergy that makes you want to rape children? Why don't we ever hear about rabbis or imams raping children?

Mr. Mephistopheles said...

Maybe because rabbis have internet access while Catholic clergymen have to meet children the old fashioned way?

There was a rabbi on that Dateline episode... but you're right, something about the Catholics and other Dipped-Christian sects really attracts the bad seeds.

Maybe deviants like the whole self-loathing-followed-by-forgiveness. And the playgrounds of faithful and obedient easy marks.

Fentanyl patches? Geez, that's what the vet puts on my cats after dental surgery. No wonder they looked so blissed out.

Shhh. Before long you'll be hearing about a rash of cat muggings on their way out of veterinary clinics.

what is it about the Italian culture that makes you want to commit crime as we see on the sopranos? what is it about the el salvadorian culture that makes you want to carry machetes and attack random people like the Mara Salvatrucha - 13? What is it about the inner city culture that makes you want to deal drugs and kill people like the bloods and crips?

The number of christian clergy or priests that commit sex crimes in proportion to the whole pf christian clergy and priests may be equivalent to the number of non-christian and non-priests who commit sex crimes in proportion to the whole (I don't know the actual statistics really) however we are more likely to remember or take notice of the public figures because, um, they're more public than non-public figures and their religious position (publicly) probably makes for a more salacious story. Has anyone checked the MD sex offender registry lately? There just can't be that many priests and christian clergy around! And maybe there's a little of that self-loathing-followed-by-forgiveness to it? Really only one of those stories was about clergy and it can't be neglected that it was presented, simply by the order of things, last in the list so it would be freshest in one's mind just prior to clicking to leave a comment so it's possible to see how it could stand out. My question is what is it about people who've been sexually abused that makes them do it to other people. . .or not. Now that would be interesting. What are the preventative factors cause I know plenty of people who've been sexually abused and it didn't occur to them to do it to anyone else. Now that I think about it those have mostly been female. hmm. O well, it's not important to understand why. We can lock those sons o bitches up for 6 mos and forget about it. Oh, and by the way Neglect is one of the biggest keys to unlocking the question of understanding the problem, but I digress.
