April 4

Horrible: another Hispanic-family murder suicide, this time in MoCo! Mom is alive and found the bodies.
What is going on out there?

Don "Overkill" Papa of California's Bounty Hunter Bloods "denies that he bound, tortured, burned and suffocated Terrance Randolph, 19, in a West Baltimore house a year ago this month." But, "he admits he was drawn to the city's lucrative drug culture ... Pennsylvania Avenue is a freaking gold mine,' he said to police, according to court papers. He boasted that he made $180,000 selling drugs there one night. 'This is the heroin capital of America, ain't no more dope sold nowhere than right there on Pennsylvania Avenue. It's the largest open air drug market in the world for heroin." But take note, "... these gangs here are not even Bloods ... these are a bunch of Internet surfers ... none of these gangs are in allegiance with an official Blood set."

Skitzy Vitali A. Davydov pled guilty to killing Dr. Wayne Fenton in Rockville.

Pervs of the day: couple Diana Cornwell, 34, and her husband, Jesse, 32, who have been "accused of soliciting money for sex in an advertisement on a popular Web site - with her husband acting as her pimp."
gounaris
PDJ of last December 5, Timothy Gounaris, will get 60 days after an Alford plea in the County.

For "the 13th time in 15 months ... charges have been dropped against a defendant accused of a homicide or other violent crime" in PGC. Wonder how often that happens in the City?

Stephanie Rawlings-Blake vows to persue a new law that would give police the right to evict home and business owners for having two nuisance violations in two years.

A protest in the Eastern is "another chapter" in the arrest of young Gerard Mungo Jr. A dull chpater, with lots of sign-waving and finger-pointing.

Baltimore History Corner: Did You Know? Somebody Rioted on West North Avenue in Baltimore in 1968 and busted up a pharmacy.

... Torts for Dorks
In District Court, Hershey Co is suing the maker of "Dork Peppermint Patty" stickers.

Here's a legendary story from the Baltimore Riots. I'm not sure if it's true, but my family always talks about how the riots were stopped at Little Italy, because the Italians sat on their rooftops with Tommy Guns and the rioters knew better then to try their luck with "mafia".

From the riot article.

"Dr. Louis L. Randall, 75, who is black, lived in West Baltimore in 1968. He believes an epidemic of drug addiction has dampened the political spirit of impoverished Baltimoreans today.

"If you had a riot now, with all of the meth and heroin addicts who live mostly in those riot areas, I don't think they would have the strength to run up and down the streets for 10 minutes," the obstetrician said. "What would their goals be to riot? More drugs?""

Kind of funny in a very depressing sort of way.

Police would be allowed to evict home and business owners who cause trouble in neighborhoods, including being too loud, under two bills being considered by the City Council.
......Thats the only real weapon we have. The judges throw out charges, witness's refuse to coop, jails are a mess...evict them, they have to straighten out to live here. Everybody needs some place to live, even a hardened criminal dealer, its something we have power over and they need.. fantastic idea!!!!

eadNo kiddin' about the Heroin Capital. We have about 20 times the heroin addiction rate of the nation as a whole.

But the good ol' Maqryland General Assembly has acted to put repeat dealers right back out there. On early release.

This is no city; it's a prison colony. And you all are living within it.

Maybe we should start bussing the addicts out to all the Assembly districts which voted for early release ???

-----------------------------------un scuuuuuuz me:
I thought the issue (incident) that sparked her outrage and decision to propose such a bill/act/law was because of a frat house in Canterbury....I didn't know it was being created to get the dealers out of neighborhoods? WOW!!!

If that is the case....Rawlings-Blake is kinda phony!!!

Are you telling me she decided to host the press conference in front of the frat house that is causing the problem because it provided a nice backdrop? LOL!

WHy is no one talking about the house with the rowdy college kids? Does their behavior denote that they too are hardened criminals in the making? I tell ya...the media is a mutha.

The eviction bill seems to be aimed more at fraternities than at criminals.

And, like most things in City Council, it aims to benefit Mary Pat's neighbors in Baltimore A, rather than the poor suckers trying to survive in Baltimore B.

Galt - Maybe Baltimore A is better because of Mary Pat Clarke. She does get things done for the people that vote for her, even though the Fraternity issue is so frivolous compared to the city's REAL issues. Perhaps the other 13 members of the City Council can take a page from her book and clear out the scumbags that run freely through this city.

Looking at the issues that don't matter and getting in an uproar, rather than doing something about the ones that do... welcome to the wonderful, pathetic world of Baltimore Politics.

I was about to comment on Sheila Dixon's initiative to talk Baltimore out of crime... but I had to leave my computer to vomit in disgust.

Baltimore: Where "You can't make this up!" is a typical statement.
