August 1

A man was fatally shot in the 1200 block of Nanticoke St in Pigtown, South Baltimore.

The man who ran to the mayor's West Baltimore house after being shot has died.

At a hearing today Judge Allen L. Schwait sentenced Antonio Dana Rogers, 28, of the 100 block of Cherryhill Road to life in prison for attempted first degree murder and an additional 25 years in prison, consecutive, for use of a handgun in the commission of a crime of violence and prohibited possession of a handgun counts. A Baltimore City jury convicted Rogers June 5, 2007. The story:
On August 23, 2005 at approximately 11:00PM the victim was walking in the 2000 block of McCullough toward the 400 block of W. Presstman St. when she became engaged in an argument with Rogers. As the victim continued toward her home, Rogers followed and pulled out a small caliber handgun, shooting the victim two times – once in the abdomen and once in the arm. When officers arrived the victim told police that “Dana” shot her and that he stays in the Cherry Hill area of the city. Rogers was eventually apprehended and was identified by both the victim and other witnesses. The victim suffered permanent injuries due to the shooting and now has to walk with a cane. She has undergone 14 surgeries since the shooting due to the injuries she suffered.
Today the Baltimore City Grand Jury indicted Rodney Fray, 39, of the 1800 block of E. Pratt St. for first-degree murder and deadly weapon. Court documents allege that Rodney Fray was responsible for an incident on July 7, 2007 when Ashley Bellosi, 23, was found suffering from head and neck injuries in her apartment in the 800 block of St Paul St. Fray allegedly fought with Bellosi, knocked her unconscious and then left the scene. Bellosi died later at University of Maryland Shock Trauma Hospital. Fray was reportedly Bellosi’s boyfriend.

Domestic Horrors!
An 88-year-old woman was raped in her home by a 20-something black male in South Baltimore.

The family of murder victim Anna Bergman are outraged that she wasn't granted a restraining order. The court commissioner in Catonsville says that Bergman claimed that Ryan Bulter threatened her new boyfriend, not herself. and she was told that he should apply for his own order.

WTF?!: In Frederick County, Donna Jean Compton, 46, pled guilty to transmitting images of her 14-year-old daughter “in various stages of undress” to a "juvenile acquaintance."

Oy, the 88yo woman who was raped was also a cancer patient. A fine example of why rape should be a death penalty crime.

Did anyone see the Sun's description of the perp? "Police said the suspect is between the ages of 20 and 30, about 6 feet tall and with a slim build. He was wearing a gray shirt and tan or khaki pants, police said."
It sure would help if they mentioned his race, but oh no, can't do that, someone might get offended.

Maybe we need a blue-light camera in front of the mayor's house. I'll write her and ask what she thinks of that idea.

A little good old-fashioned vigilantism? Every day that starts to sound like a better and better idea. Let's start by lynching Brandon Grimes.

Where does it say the man shot near the mayor's house has died?

Well, a very reasonable first step would be to declare a crime emergency and grant citizens the right to self-help 'til the emergency is lifted.

Cybes, please set up a caption and link in Thursday's posts for the Mayor's response to police negligence.

It's been two months since Zach Sowers was beaten to a pulp. The penalty for his attackers should be as severe as one handed out to a murderer. The guy is probably going to be a vegetable for the rest of his life, so they essentially have already killed the person that he was. Lock them all up and throw away the key (I'd prefer to see them fry, but of course that's never going to happen.)

Write to your legislative delegate and let them know you support the right of law-abiding citizens to carry concealed weapons. While they're at it they should change laws on self-defense so that you can kill someone who breaks into your home without fear of being prosecuted.

hey gor, the Dixon's doorsteop death was on Fox last night.
I watch the first 15 minutes of the 10 o'clock sometimes, until they start talking about sports. The newscast is actually ok, but the web site's awful, which is why I rarely link to them.

According to the Sun there were two murders last night, which brings us up to 188 for the year. At this rate we should have about 320 murders by the end of December. It boggles my mind that anyone could support Sheila Dixon, Stephanie Galling-Flake, or any other member of this city's useless political establishment.

I know! I don't get it! My neighbors have Dixon signs, and they're seemingly resonable, educated people! I've been trying to figure out a polite neighborly way to ask them "WTF?!" What's she ever done? What does she stand for even? What are they so into that they'd stick a sign in the lawn? I have no idea. I was always under the impression that people couldn't stand her... at the Hampden Xmas parade everyone cheered O'Malley, then Dixon's car was next and it was dead silence with a smattering of boos.

I've tried to keep an open mind, but she doesn't seem to have any plan or drive to lead atall, she doesn't even have strong words in her vocabulary, she's still a kindergarten teacher!
"Children, that behavior is unacceptable!"

Her main projects are cleaning up our area, having circle time with nonprofits, and making art with metal scraps!
