Here is another Zach Sowers update.

"I'd like to thank all of Zach's coworkers for the money that they have raised and continue to raise. Their fundraising skills have raised over $15,000 and they even had a huge quilt made as part of the fundraising plans. The money will definitely come in handy because Zach's insurance will probably run out in a few months and I will need to figure out how to pay about $1,000 a day for his care. The state will ask that I spend down all of our money before they consider helping. So, I will soon have to spend down all of our savings, including Zach's retirement, to pay for hospital care, while the 4 boys' families sit at home and owe nothing to us, the city or the state."

I'm sorry, but that is beyond fucked up. Even death row inmates, the worst of the worst, get free medical care at taxpayer expense, but law-abiding citizens who did NOTHING wrong except be victimized by thugs are driven into poverty. Zach's attackers should be killed and chopped up for spare parts. Sell their organs to the highest bidder, that ought to cover his medical expenses. Or how about this, cut the budget for inmate medical care in our prison system and use that money to pay the medical bills of crime victims. No sense in spending good money keeping human trash alive.

Well, you can garnish in excess of $50,000 for harvested organs....

Columbia, people - columbia.

Suddenly I find myself feeling anger fatigue - because we keep seeing the same issues that idiots in this town seem to ignore.

when, oh when will it stop?

Cynic,

Moving to Columbia is hugely different from Baltimore. Even I haven't drank that Kool-Aid yet.

Ellicott City is as close as I want to get to either.
