January 8

More than 2,000 mourners attended the funeral for Courtney Brooks.

Three teenage boys and a woman were injured during a shooting at a carryout joint in the Southwestern.

The link above also mentions that Ronald Lee Moore's suicide attempt was successful.

The county police have released a sketch of one of three suspects who shot a man during a robbery / cigarette-bumming in Woodlawn last November. Is it just me, or is that bad man wearing a polka-dot neckerchief?

Apparently, Gerard Damon got bored with prison, so he just kind of walked away.

Oedipus is running for Carroll County School Board.

Sean Nelson Smith's murder trial might provide some mighty fine drama.

Christopher James Haarhoff got five years for helping his mother ditch the body of her boyfriend.

26-year-old Joseph Ellis pleaded guilty to being a perv.

Pigtown patrol points police to Peacock.

A pit bull attacked a 9-year-old girl on Bonaparte Ave., and neighbors are "beefing." Uh, okay. (And hey... don't hate the dogs, hate the owners.)

A bit of pathetic race-baiting by our city government. Guess what, if people got into mortgages they couldn't afford then it's their own damned fault. Their skin color is irrelevant.

Gerry's on point about the claims by BCPD that crime is down.

Who surpasses us for murder in the FBI 2007 half-year period ?

Tell me, if UCR Part I crime is supposedly down by 50% over 12 years, why are police emergency calls up?

Nor are we alone in that perception.
