The double-murder trial of David Miller sounds like a Law & Order episode just waiting to happen. The woman who was with Elizabeth Walters when she was killed testified against Miller, an assistant state medical examiner testified that Walters' fetus could have survived outside the womb, a seasoned homicide detective cried on the stand, and Miller tried to fire his public defenders because they weren't asking questions of most of the witnesses.
Bobby Ray Stanbery had a knife, some rope, three porno vids, and had removed the rear seats from his SUV when he tried to "give a ride" to a 14-year-old girl on Woodbourne Ave. last year. For all that, he got a year.
A couple of guys wanted on handgun charges led police on a car chase from East Baltimore to the Harbour Tunnel. WMAR gave the story a big and exciting write-up with phrases like "the driver is behind bars" and "high speed chase through the streets of Baltimore;" meanwhile, the Sun stuck the story in the Blotter and described it as a "medium-speed pursuit."
Allan Clark was homeless when he murdered Michael Evans Sr.; now, it looks like he'll have a roof over his head for a very long time.

Hey, I might have got a john fired today!
I was taking out my garbage today and happened to see a hooker getting into a van belonging to Energy Systems Group. Well, I gave their local office a call, and the woman I spoke did NOT sound too happy about it.
It's probably for the best. Someone dumb enough to go whoring with his employer's name on his vehicle probably shouldn't be messing around with electricity.
No confirmation yet but it looks like Zach Sowers passed away. I hope it is not true but the "Thoughts and Prayers" section of the website has been getting condolence messages all day only to have them disappear soon after.
If Zach Sowers did pass away, can his assailants be charged with murder?
"If Zach Sowers did pass away, can his assailants be charged with murder?"
No. Part of the plea deal was that they would not face additional charges if he died.
Sounds like Zowers' assailants got an excessively sweet plea deal.
I've got a call in to a friend that is close to the family. Still waiting to hear back.
I am just praying it isn't true but truth be told it would be a small blessing for his poor wife and family. Maybe a chance to move on. I don't know how considering the brutality of it all.
The plea deal just sickens me especially since I live a block from one of the animals family.
One year?!? Anyone take a look at the guy's rap sheet? He has at least one other crime on there, a rape/kidnapping from 2000.
Also weird - the guy lives just over the DC city line in suburban PG county, yet commits his crimes up here in Baltimore city...anyway, I can't believe that his prior record didn't seem to matter a hill of beans in the sentencing of this admittedly uncompleted crime...sickens me, it really does.
From the Sun's web board:
"Zach did pass away yesterday evening. I just found out and I'm leaving work early.
There is a private viewing on Thursday from 2-4 and 5-7."
From zachsowers.com:
"Dear Friends and Family,
It is with great sadness that I write to tell you that my close and wonderful friend, Zach Sowers, passed away yesterday, Tuesday, March 25, after a long and steady decline. Anna called me today to tell me that he passed away peacefully around 10 p.m. last night. Zach is now at peace after a long and treacherous battle. He was so strong and fought until the very end but it provides comfort for us all to know that he is now in heaven, watching over his friends and family.
Anna has told me that she and the family are doing as well as can be. They have a strong network of friends and family supporting them and ask that their privacy be respected during this difficult time.
A memorial service will be held in Frederick, MD on Thursday, March 27, 2-4pm and 6-7pm, at Stauffer Funeral Homes.

We miss you Zach.

At this point we can expect no less from the people with the power in this town. On one hand I can understand their desire to pursue a plea bargain, but on the other hand it smacked of a desperation to sweep this case under the rug.
Not to mention the sympathizers for these criminals... Who knows how many thug huggers infiltrate the jury pools in this town.
