Life in Prison for Juanita Robinson

At a hearing today, Judge John C. Themelis sentenced Juanita Robinson, 28, of the 800 block of Bradhurst Road to life in prison. A Baltimore City jury convicted Robinson February 14, 2008 of first-degree murder. On March 31, 2007 Juanita Robinson shot Andre McBride, 21, in the head in the 6600 Knottwood Court. Robinson was the victim’s girlfriend and was the last person seen with McBride before the shooting. McBride died later at Sinai Hospital.

Robinson previously served six months for killing 16-year-old Derrick Colbert (see last para).

Six months for killing someone? Christ, the joke about misdemeanor homicide wasn't such a joke after all!

Is there any chance that we will get a decent candidate to run against Pat Jessamy in 2010? Wasn't that O'Malley's rationale for giving Jessamy a 60% pay raise before he left office?

Steve Fogleman ran against Jessamy last time around, and although his support was concentrated in the Southeast area, he was at least able to put her on the defensive a few times.

Now that he's the City Liquor Board Chairman (and doing pretty well in that role IMHO), he has a somewhat higher city-wide visibility. I wonder if he might run against her again? I'd just as soon vote for a three-legged giraffe with explosive diarrhea then vote for Jessamy, but anyone planning on running against her in '10 really needs to start laying the groundwork now.

I blindly voted for Fogleman in '06 (as I too would have voted for a giraffe with explosive diarrhea), but I was rather impressed with him when he spoke at the SE police district community meeting a few months ago. However, I'm concerned that he wouldn't be able to beat her- especially if she plays the race card.

Now this is what I'm talkin' about.

Send the violent bastards to Fallujah.

And take about half my neighborhood's hoodlums with you.

Nakita McDaniels gets sentenced. She is a student council VP at misbehavior hot bed school Robert Poole and will probably be well-suited to participate in our City's municipal government, based upon her hoodlum credentials.

Nakita should have listened to her own words, before her group-led assault on Ms. Kreager. She said, "You white people think you control everything."

Have fun with your limitless sentence there is a "secure juvenile facility" Nikita. It's not something I would want to do but, hey, you wrote your own ticket.

When's the last time that a Baltimore City state's attorney actually lost an election? Isn't it almost a job that the deputy state's attorney inherits after his old boss retires? I know that Stuart Simms was deputy SA under Schmoke, and Jessamy was Simms's deputy. It seems like incumbents are pretty tough to kick out of office.

Ppatin, I think the last time an incumbent states attorney lost was in 1986, when Kurt Schmoke unseated the incumbent at the time (I think Swisher?). Since then, its been business as usual - but that's how it is with Baltimore Politics...

And away with the Spiro Agnew of Robert Poole Middle school - one can only hope she learns to play well with others while she's away.

Cynic:

I checked and you're correct, Swisher was the last incumbent Baltimore State's Attorney to lose an election. That happened in 1982, not 1986.

Off-duty officer shot.

"A city police officer shot and killed a fellow, off-duty officer this morning during a fight outside a bar in Southeast Baltimore, a department spokesman said this morning."

Uh oh...

ppatin said...

Apparently the dead officer was celebrating his 45 years (not a typo!) on the police force. Why you'd celebrate such an occasion at Have Place I do not know.

taotechuck said...

Uh... maybe because of the nekkid women?

Winston Smith said...

so the dead cop came out of the bar with brass knuckles was tasered by the uniformed police THEN drew his gun and was shot and killed by the uniformed police.

You really can not make this stuff up.

Tazered? I thought most cops didn't have tazers in B'more.
