no parking fine amnesty... going away this week. Check out the many fine blogs & sites at right, and please don't rob my house. -- MJB

Maybe we'll actually have one of those rare weeks where all is quiet on the west Baltimore front. Enjoy your trip. Seriously though, a couple years ago I went away on business, only to come back and find that my entire house had been burglarized. The police came, and even though I could clearly see hand prints that forced up my window after yanking out the security bars, no finger prints were taken.
God I love this place.

Dear Editor/James---
Unfortunately, it is not that uncommon for folks to go away and find their place burgalarized. We hope MJB has taken care to have someone keep an eye on her house while she's away: take in any packages, mail, or newspapers (if anyone still gets newspapers[I do!], and pick up any flyers off the steps.
Of course, if someone could house-sit, or at least visit and turn on some lights that would be helpful too.
And of course an alarm is helpful, but only if you have someone local who can be notified to come check/turn the darn thing off.
Yanked out the security bars? I wouldn't want to meet those burglars!

Jesus, even for Worser Waverly this was a nasty crime.
Triple shooting at an unnamed Asian carryout on the 2900 block of Greenmount. Two dead, one injured.
Um, have I been too subtle on that point ???
Or too shy ??
Oh, and it's NOT unnamed.
