Peter Hermann is looking for nominations for Baltimore's top ten crimes.
Hermann also writes on the hazard aspect of running the Baltimore Marathon through some of its dicier neighborhoods.
What isn't mentioned is that during the marathon, the course of the race is packed with cops. The intersection of 33rd & Greenmount had 5 cops during the last race, all of whom vanished never to be seen again about 15 minutes after the bulk of the runners had passed west of there. And the rest of the year? Nothing.
Wouldn't it be nice if the people who actually live in Waverly got some decent police presence?
In the same vicinity, we have this from the Charles Village blotter:
Burglary (Residential) – 300 blk. E. 33RD Street 9/30/09 6:00 pm – 2:00 am
Property Taken: Samurai Sword, Charger. An unknown suspect forced an A/C unit from the rear window to gain entry. The suspect removed the listed property and fled w/ same.
So, apparently, the criminals are now disarming their victims in Ponts' neighborhood. (this location is on the same city block where career burglar Donald Rice met his end.)
So that y'all know, the Charles Village crime alerts have become voluminous as crime in that neighborhood has recently ballooned. Feels like 1996 all over again. Baltimore doesn't change.
