Since I promised to keep all editorializing in the comments section...

IMO if dogs are unduly influencing jurors then the problem isn't with the dogs, it's with the whole jury system. Juries are an anachronism that we're clinging to for sentimental reasons. It would be nice if we could amend the Constitution, but because of our irrational attachment to this concept of a jury trial that will never happen.
