Blotter: A 17-year-old boy was shot in the back and a woman was shot in the knee in the Northeastern.
In Jessup, 27-year-old James Darnell was indicted on eight counts related to an attempted rape and burglary allegedly commited within a day after he was released on bail while awaiting trial on similar charges.
In Bel Air, trial for involuntary manslaughter is scheduled to start Wednesday for a second defendant, Elaine Bulter, in the case of the 16-month-old boy who died of a methadone overdose.

I've been stewing about this notion of guys who are so 'small' that they can't respond to anything in this world except that it enhances their frail lil' egos.
The problem with explaining (not quite excusing) antisocial behavior in terms of the limited capacities of impaired individuals is that at some point, society is entitled to be held harmless from their improper conduct. If we REALLY want to classify them as pathologically antisocial, then you ultimately have to recognize the Ol' Yeller solution. That is, a rabid pet is rabid, hence, no longer your pet. Shoot it. Got to be done.
People whose worldview renders them pathologically incapable of recognizing societal bounds on extreme behavior have to be contained and incapacitated by any means necessary.
....... and throw away the key.
The Grand Jury's report on arrest practices is in. And the winner for excessive uncharged arrests is.... (the envelope, please) ... the Baltimore City Police Department. The report calls for BCPD to reduce unchargeable arrests by 50%. Unsurprisingly, the department spokesweasel disagrees with the findings.

. . .couldn't agree more. No cure for people with antisocial disorders. Your comment about shooting them makes me think I know you. . .and if that's true, that discussion needs go no further. I also think it's too easy to explain things by "frail lil' egos". But I don't think you'd like some of the alternative explanations (not excuses) out there that are likely part of it.
And by all means not all crime committers are antisocials, by definition.
Hmmm, I'm wondering if Kevin is employed in connection with the BCPD ? I'd be truly amazed if my hyperbole had made that much an impression on that Kevin that he could pick me out of a verbal lineup. Or is Kevin your real name?
The 'frail lil' egos' was a response to the observation that some of our prize specimens have nothing they value other than 'not being dissed.'
The rational criminals are making conscious choices. They need to face expected sanctions adequate to deter their conduct. The Theory of Crime and Punishment.
