November 3

Three of 17 members of an east Baltimore drug gang were sentenced today-- Terrence Moody got more than 21 years, and Larry Yarrall and Lashavio Gilliam got 12 years, 7 months federal for various cocaine-related charges.

Patricia Campbell, 37, abudcted a 6-year-old girl and gave her a hairdo. Officer Theo Fleet used crime camera info to help track down the girl within two hours.

Criminy-- a man was stabbed at Paca and Mulberry streets, in the middle of the day. (Thanks burgersub)

Jermaine Isaac, 17, of the 330 block of S. Furrow Street, pled guilty today to second-degree murder and use of a handgun in the commission of a crime of violence. Judge Martin P. Welch sentenced Isaac to 30 years in prison, suspending all but 14 years for the murder and five years, concurrent, for the handgun count. On November 15, 2005, Darren Parker, 19, was involved in an argument with Isaac, who was 16 at the time, in the 2100 block of Wilhelm St. Isaac then shot Parker, killing him.

A Baltimore City jury late yesterday afternoon convicted Reginald McKever, 20, of Greencrest Road, of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and two handgun counts. Judge Allen L. Schwait scheduled sentencing for January 2, 2007. Say court docs,
On July 18th, 2005, Officer Kevin Simmons of the Baltimore City Police Department, was sitting on a split rail fence in front of 5304 Goodnow road talking on his cell phone. Officer Simmons was off duty but had his police identification and departmental handgun on his person. While Officer Simmons was on the phone, he was approached by two males. One of the men asked Officer Simmons if he had a cigarette to which he responded that he didn't smoke. The two men walked away but returned a couple of minutes later. At that time one of the two men produced a handgun, pointed it at Officer Simmons and stated "kick it out." The gunman, identified as McKever, then told the other male to go through the victim's pockets. It was at that time that Officer Simmons was concerned that if they went through his pockets they would find his departmental handgun and his police identification. Officer Simmons then ran for cover. McKever then fired at the officer, striking him once in the foot. Officer Simmons was able to return fire but did not strike the gunman. The two defendants then ran from the area. While running away, McKever fell down, dropping a Berretta 92 FS handgun. The other assailant remains unknown. Officer Kevin Simmons was taken to the hospital and treated for his injuries.
A murder, two attempted murder and a drug arrest in the blotter, Molly's bar in Remington and a lot of other places robbed.

A familiar pattern when it comes to the city's gang-fighting strategy. Sounds like the "state troopers in the city" thing.
1. city gets money or resources to do something
2. officials bicker over who's going to be in charge of the effort, refuse to be involved if they can't be in charge
3. money gets pissed away in one-sided or short-term effort
4. repeat a year or two later, when the same issue comes up again

Closing arguements yesterday in the MS-13 trial. The case may hinge on the testimony of a key informant, "Shorty."

In the County, police are looking for a blonde man who shot a bouncer at Coco's Bar and Grill in the 400 block of Eastern Boulevard.

In Rockville, former Army sergeant Gary James Smith, 24 was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of his roommate, Michael Anthony McQueen II, 22.

In MoCo, Josue Ray Dupree, 20, was arrested for stabbing of Ana Elisa Mejia Avila to death at a J.C. Penney loading dock.

Good to know: if you plan to vote, there's going to be four questions on the ballot. Study up!

Hopefully Dixon and Jessamy will work together if O'M gets elected. Somehow I doubt it.

seriously, who thinks of neighborhood names in baltimore? "hmm, what would be a good name for this neighborhood? i know! a long cumbersome list of all the bounding streets and/or distinguishing features, separated by dashes or in some cases slashes!"

Are we referring to 3400 Mayfield? Shot in the head? That's not CHM. It's either Mayfield or Belair-Edison.

It was on wjz, I think.

Regarding resources for multidepartmental anti-gang programs, there's just way too much interpersonal nonsense in this police department (really the upper echelons of it). The Governor should declare the BCPD unfit and do what needs to be done over BCPD's objections. He should have declared a state of emergency in Baltimore City when the O'Mayor refused to authorize state troops on a general mission to enforce the criminal laws of city & state. That fact alone suggests to me that the O'M has a massive conflict of interest should he become Governor: he'll never criticize (as Guv) his own record (as Mayor).

watch out for fake state troopers:

(Laurel, MD) – On November 2, 2006, between the hours of 1:00am and 6:30am, troopers responded to the Laurel area of Prince George’s County where unknown suspects broke into an unmarked Maryland State Police patrol vehicle gaining access to several items belonging to a state trooper.

Several police accessories were stolen from the patrol vehicle including one Maryland State Police badge #554, one black Maryland State Police jacket with “MSP” in yellow letters on each sleeve and the words “Maryland State Police” on the back, and one silver ring, male size 12, with Maryland State Police shields on each side and engraved with “Special Tactical Assault Team Element”. There were no weapons in the vehicle at the time of the incident. If you have any information regarding the stolen police items, especially the Maryland State Police badge #554, please contact the Forestville Barracks at 301-568-8101.

State Police remind motorists if they have concerns regarding the identity of an officer, they should request photo identification or request the officer to call for a uniformed police officer to respond to the scene before submitting to any requests of law enforcement.

foxtrot has been flying over north, northeast and northwest Baltimore, between North Avenue and about 29th St. Announcing over its loud speaker "we are looking for a missing six year old." If I am hearing them correctly.

The Haggardcase is also plenty bizarre. I saw him interviewed in the documentary "Conviction" about the Jonah House nuns who hammered on a missile silo in Colorado. He struck me as acting bizarre. He was very agressive and had this very evil looking smile. He also seemed more motivated by power and politics than the word of god or the gospel of Jesus.

In some ways I am not surprised.

His statement that he bought methamphetamine but "never used it" seems like a weaker excuse than the "I didn't inhale" BS that President Clinton tried.

I heard that also friday Simon, but at the time I couldn't make out what they were saying.

The Molly's robbery... 2 men in hooded sweatshirts and masks robbed them with a gun and knife... one of my co-workers bartends there so we heard not too long after. I heard the bartender gave them the money and they still stole the register....creepy
