The Court of Special Appeals upheld the search and seizure of a van containing evidence used against Sonya M. Daniels, (left, William J. Hennessy Jr. for The Post) sentenced to life in 2005 for the double murder of 16-year-old Deanna Marie Prichard and her 5-week-old daughter Makayla Ann Frost in Frederick County in 2002. Daniels was, police say, jealous of Prichard's relationship with the baby's father, Tracy Frost, 32.
Fascinating Visitors from the North: AP QT Brian Witte says Olympic-champ Québécoise and alleged abductress Myriam Bédard will have a hearing on Friday ... and that her current husband is a low-level art thief. Interesting footnote: two years ago Bédard blew the whistle on a big Canadian government no-show-job scam.

ehh, i'd say they're more "being realistic" than "playing it safe." with a murder rate as high as ours, a couple murders more or less is not a big deal. i mean, it's a big deal in that we apparently aren't making any progress, but it's not like it's substantially worse than last year. i was watching law & order svu (btw it was a really weird one which guest starred detective munch's demented uncle from florida) tonight and during a commercial break there was a teaser for the news and they said that the headline story would be that our murder rate has "soared" past last year's. give me a break, a change of less than 1% is not "soaring." philly just hit 400, 20 more than last year, and 63 more than the year before that! sure, their murder rate per capita is still much lower than ours, but that increase something to report about because it's a huge change. here in baltimore it's not news, it's just more of the same old shit.
oops, got my figures crossed, so far this year philadelphia has had SEVENTY more murders than it did in all of 2004.
If they were 'being realistic' they'd include the number of 'unclassified' deaths as well...
...ThAT might be telling.
Ho hum, insomnia again...
As usual, Police spokesweasel JaBLOW defends the status quo in the department.
