March 12

Two reported killings over the weekend: On Saturday, Allen Coates was at a birthday party at Maceo's Lounge. He confronted a man who was "groping" a woman at the party and was repeatedly shot as a result. Early Sunday morning, 40-year-old Damon Smith was found in an alley of the 5000 block of Denmore in the Northwest; he had been repeatedly shot more than an hour before.

17-year-old Andrew Tuell was arrested in Utah for the Annapolis murder of Terrance Powell, and Daniel Lawson was arrested in Glen Burnie for last week's murder of James Fabian in Brooklyn Park (AAC).

BaCo popo want CoCo.

A 50-year-old Delaware woman traveled to Harford County and unsucessfully hired a hit man to take out her step-mother.

DNA evidence led prosecutors to drop charges against Andre Christopher King, accused of raping an 8-year-old. The victim's family still claim that he did it.

A 16-year-old was killed when his drunk friend crashed into a tree.

A librarian was robbed at gunpoint in the elevator of a parking garage while she was on her way to work at the Towson public library.

A happier, friendlier Central Booking awaits you.

Gregory Kane looks at the recent stabbings at the Maryland House of Corrections in Jessup.

A man who might have been drinking a the flight from Phoenix was arrested at BWI for slapping flight attendants.

It's not right to work so hard for your constituents yet bring home a paltry $80,000, so I think we'd all agree that our city leaders deserve an 18-to-26% pay increase.

Perhaps our state workers also deserve a raise, so they can stop watching porn at work and do it at home instead.

jaimetab I agree with you on that note... in my brother's murder trial the guy got a hefty sentence life plus 20 which doesn't happen often here. I think if the guy had got like 10 years I would've blew my lid right then and there, I don't know how those families deal with it, or how those judges live with it on their conscience.

51. Allen Coates, 36, Maceo's Lounge, 1900 block of N. Monroe St.

NOW Iam MAD!!! have you ever had that sinking feeling in your gut when something happens to someone you know??? Well, i have that feeling right about now. 'ALLEN COATES' was my BOY!!!(slang)We grew up together in the area between PARK HEIGHTS AVE & BELVEDERE AVE.. my first reaction is of sadness & pain.

Our paths in life differed tremendously....but he was not a CRIMINAL,as in living a 'THUG LIFE'
But he also wasnt a CHOIR BOY!!!He
had his bumps in the road just like anyone else that i know of..i came up with. The last time we seen each other i had just finished college and he was working for BG&E,... I was proud to see he had finally settled down and stayed out of those DAMN STREETS.. and that was 1998!! I had just seen one of his brothers last summer, he informed me that ALLEN was A BRAND NEW FATHER and still working at BG&E and doing pretty good.....

I really need to get away from this
CITY!!

I am sickened to hear about the constant murders in Maryland. I was born and raised in Baltimore and left in 2001. I finally convinced my husband to leave in 2004. We still have children, grandchildren and parents living in Maryland. I am in constant prayer for their safety. I believe that change in Baltimore has to start with the churches. There are so many mega churches in Baltimore and not enough church affiliation in the communities. Where are the Jamal Bryants, Bishop Johnson's, Rev Reids, Rev Thomas'and all the rest. I grew up in the Park Heights area and back in the day the churches involvement is what dictated what was allowed in the community. We need to stop depending on politicians to fix our communities and get some grassroot operations going on ourselves to rid our communities of the scum infestations that has been allowed to takeover our neighhborhoods. And the churches should be in the forefront of those operations. Everybody wants to talk the talk, but no one is walking the walk. May GOD bless Baltimore and reign down on the streets and protect the innocent.
