- an unidentified man was found fatally stabbed in an alley about 6:25 a.m. in the 4000 block of Belvieu Ave. in Northwest Baltimore's West Arlington neighborhood;
- a man was found shot dead and near a handgun around the corner for a burning house on the 400 block of Mosher St.,;

Two episodes of the Blotter today. The first lists a man who was shot in the head in the 3000 block of Spaulding Ave., a Chevy that was riddled with bullets, and a woman who was arrested in the Southeastern for threatening her husband with a knife. The second lists a man who was choked and robbed on Eastern Ave. and a forced-entry robbery in Essex.
The Examiner covers the arrest of editor Frank Keegan.
18-year-old Young Gorilla Family member Eric Tate pleaded guilty to killing rival gang member Anthony Taylor Jr. and his non-gang-affiliated friend, Adrian Holiday, last September.
DNA evidence may support James Owens Jr.'s claim that he didn't murder Colleen Williar 20 years ago, in spite of testimony from a co-defendent that Owens raped and killed the woman while the co-defendent watched and masturbated.
Adrian "Dre" Maldonado was found guilty in HoCo court for fatally stabbing Marvin Walter Harding.
Suicidal drug addict William Earl Horshaw got 7 1/2 years for robbing banks.
Edwin Wright got a long-overdue 25 years.
Doug Gansler is teaching kids about the dangers of the Internet.
Drug treatment costs a whole lot of money.

From the Sun's article:
"The mayor noted that violent crime in Baltimore is down"
"There have been 75 more non-fatal shootings this year than there were last year at this time, an increase of 37 percent, according to city police statistics. The number of homicides is up, with 114 killings this year, compared with 104 at this time last year."
More murders, more shootings, and Sheila Dixon is pretending that violent crime is down?
More of rearranging the deck chairs on this Titanic of a city. Meanwhile, residents are "moving right of of state."
Maybe that's our slogan:
The Titanic City.
Yeah, so if murders and shootings are up, what's down? Foot-stompings?
Cybes, if you have a fax I can get you the detail. No email, just fax.
two more murders last night. obviously we aren't outraged enough.
What's the story with the two un-ID'd men on Latrobe Ave.? I haven't seen any mention of this crime, but they're on our homicide list. Did I miss an article somewhere?
They're from the Mt. Royal incident, that's just where they happened to fall.
The numbers:
Baltimore's pop. % of MD: 11.2%
Baltimore's murder % of MD: 59.6%
Baltimore's Murder Rate for 2006 per 100,000: 43.6
Baltimore's Murder Rate Projected for 2007: 49.4
Baltimore's number of current clueless mayor's: 1

I’m terribly sorry for sounding like a broken record. With the appalling job of reporting on this incident by the media, misinformation is 100% understandable. The two that fled around the copycat were uninjured and not caught. Witnesses have stated explicitly that these two were running as fast as human beings are capable. This would have been impossible if one had a gun shot to the head and the other to the torso. Police have explicitly stated to these same witnesses that these two assailants were not injured and have not been caught.
I saw the two who had received these wounds, lying on the street and the curb at the corner of guilford and mt. royal.
Where can I see those statistics that crime is down that the mayor keeps talking about?
My wife just told me the police have blocked off a large section of North Ave & Druid Hill Ave, large numbers of police and those little "bullet markers" all over the street. Let's see if this gets reported anywhere...
anoymous, pick a 'handle' already!
So two people didn't die on Latrobe?
If not ,could you please let the class know from whence, if anywhere, they did pass from this mortal coil, and how it came to be that you recieved said information?
they didn't die at all, those were the perps running away. the sun is just stupid. you can take them off the list. the only person that died in that incident was mr. taylor.
my fax = 410 558-6654
heh. Sorry. Let's pick "Gubah" as my handle. I haven't picked a handle because it would get mixed up with my other blogger identities, or rather, I would get it mixed up with my other blogger identities for a page that I keep anonymous. Since, the photo that we discussed yesterday is pointing at my window... well... that would eff up my anonyminity.
My apartment window is thirty feet from the scene of the shooting. My view was obstructed by a wall but I heard everything. Also, I was lying on my floor. I did exit the building to investigate once the police arrived. I know where the wounded were because I saw them. I've been exchanging emails with eye witnesses in the copycat who have been speaking with the police. I've also been speaking with other residents of my building who had unobstructed views, although everyone in my building actually saw less than those in the copycat across the jones falls valley because we were all too busy lying prostrate on our floors.
I guess I’ve been mr. amataur sleuthy because, ya know... four people got shot outside my apartment, and the Media did such horrible job covering this, that I had no other way to figure out what the hell happened.
In the article the Sun buggered up Mt. Royaly, leaving you with the impression that there were 6 victims, they mixed up the identites of the assailants who fled unharmed, and the victims that were shot and dropped at the scene of the crime.
Ahhhh, Gubah, I remember when I was a youngster like you: the murders in front of my shiny new B'more house, the fruitless searches through the Sun and the worthless TV sites, the fury that pulled my head out of the sand and made me start looking around. Of course, back then we had to walk six miles uphill through the snow each day to write our blog posts. You kids today have it easy with your laptops and your myspace and your fancy wifi connections.
Seriously, though, welcome to the wall between Baltimore A and Baltimore B. It's a weird place to be, because you must learn how to balance hope with hopelessness. Enjoy your visit, and if you decide to stick around, I'm sure we'll bump into each other before too long.
I don't see what Frank Keegan did that was wrong. No doors were open, no one saw anything, a person was pounding on a door around midnight in the city of death. That stupid neighbor was lucky he wasn't shot for that idiotic stunt he pulled.
tao, for better or for worse, I am neither young or new to Baltimore, despite what the geographic location of my apartment and my doey eyed optimism may lead you to believe. I’ve been here for 10 years and have seen my share of knucklehead b.s. I’ve been on the border between functional and dysfunctional Baltimore all that time. It is my intention to die here eventually, hopefully later than sooner. But yes, this was the first time that a full on 30 to 50 shot gun battle has broken out within spitting distance of me. But thank you for the paternal mentorship all the same. ;-)
Gor, I’m not even convinced that he was holding his gun at the time. And I’m pretty much certain that he didn’t “rack” his gun. Seeing how the victim(s) was/were the only witness/es to this behavior on the part of Keegan, that the victim obviously has a bone to pick, and that the victim just 5 minutes before made a superficial 911 phone call that wasn’t necessary and is obviously prone towards delirious exaggeration, the chances of the prosecution actually landing a conviction is somewhere around zero. But yes, I feel bad that Keegan actually has to spend the money on his own defense over all this nonsense.
