Maybe that Franchot guy could look into Baltimore's mess of a budget, no?

A stabbing on Gay Street, a whole buncha shootings in West Baltimore, and a woman stabbed on St. Paul St. by a homeless robber in Charles Village.
In the blotter, random shootings across town, and robberies with everything from guns to garden tools.
Hey, that stabbing was right in front of my apartment, and I can't believe I didn't hear anything--I had my air conditioners on. So, is this woman going to be ok? Since I moved in here last year, on just this one block alone, three women have been attacked by a guy with a screwdriver, two neighbors were awakened to find someone climbing in their apartment, a woman last month was attacked by two teenagers with knives, and a woman was forced back into her car and taken to an ATM by an attacker at knifepoint. But hey, Hamm sez life is great for people here not involved in drugs, and crime is down, because these incidents are surely cooked in the statistics . In reality, this place is the most f***ed up hellhole I've EVER EVER lived. PLEASE, those of you brave enough to stay on here, get rid of Hamm, Dixon, etc. Protest to the state and federal gov't, but for gods sake get someone in here that knows what the f*** needs to be done! Good luck, and goodbye.
i was trying to change this but i don't think i have the power to edit already posted stuff on here, or if i do i can't figure it out. jason nichols did not do the stabbing, that's the name of one of the guys that tackled the attacker. i hope you see this and change it soon, don't want you to get sued for libel!
Thanks burg (and galt)
I used to live in that building! The Normandie?
Whatta pit!
This falls under the category of white-collar crime:
I was reading the City budget. Points to note:
12% of the City's budget, over $303 million in total, is handed out in grants and other subsidies of dubious benefit to the various nonprofits and associations which purport to improve life in Baltimore.
That amount is about equal to Baltimore's total capital improvements budget or the city budget of the Baltimore City Public School System.
It is greater than the operating budget of the Baltimore City Police Department and exceeds that Department's Field Operations budget by about 50%.
In the City That Bleeds, so do its public finances.
Interestingly, this annual hit to the pocketbook is just about the same as the total cost of the notorious white elephant known as the Baltimore City Municipal Convention Center Hotel.
So, when they tell you they just can't seem to make the streets safe, remember what they chose to do with the money instead of policing.
