I think the article linked states that the red bandana/ apeshit middle-schoolers caper took place in Aberdeen, not Anne Arundel Co.
For those interested, in the city of Detroit and, in fact, nationally, nonfatal shootings annually average about three per homicide recorded.
We have many more than that, whichis to say, lotsa shooting going on here.
The police department in Raleigh, NC adopted the following plan to reduce gun violence:

Kinda too early to assess its effectiveness, but it makes good reading. Much of the violence there sounds like what we've got here, only we've got it in spades.
Thanks coug.
Hey, two days without a homicide!
Not anymore, Cy...
Stupid city, I ought to move to Pikesville.
Glad to see Hattie Harrison and son getting what they deserve. Rumor was that she planned to give up her seat soon and have him replace her in the legislature. If he gets convicted, that will take care of that.
She's an old fart and it will be a happy day when she retires.
Rodricks and I are starting to sound like the same person. I wonder who finds that scarier ?
One of the most interesting things I've seen on this blog is a constant repetition of "we need more cops". Just about every regular has stated this opinion. When the police take too long to respond it is repeated. When the "new" methods (e.g. foot patrols) work they cannot be implemented due to the need for more police. This is understandable.
The kicker is, when there are cases of police excess, the refrain remains the same get more cops. The reasoning is that fully staffed, they will not be under the pressure to make bogus decisions.
All this seems to be a constant even with the wide range of opinions on other issues that occasionally flare.
So Galt and Rodricks sounding the same is not that surprising to me. It seems to be one of the clear things that needs to happen if you really care about the situation is to have more officers. You need this no matter what type of policing you want to implement.

We also need to pay our cops more. Right now Baltimore has lower pay than any of the surrounding jurisdictions, which means they generally get lower quality people than the surrounding counties.
