July 27 - the 1,000th post

Samuel Epps, 30, was chased and then shot to death at about 2:15 a.m. in the 1700 block of W. Baltimore Street.
And the victim found in the trunk of the car was indeed a homicide, killed by blunt-force trauma.

J'heart Judge Brooke Murdock! Not only did she shoot down the state's same-sex marraige ban, but she Reservoir Hill drug dealer Omar Parker the full 20 years for witness intimidation.

This week's Ink provides names and more details for last week's victims.

Maryland's Court of Appeals ruled that says that police officers can be sued for libel if they make false statements to obtain a search warrant.

Robert Paul LaytonEleven boys have come forward to accuse Dundalk perv Robert Paul Layton of various sex offenses. He also faces federal indictment on child pornography charges. Gross. You may remember Layton as the guy with a pool table in his basement who plied young boys with booze and weed (<- WBAL audio link from last February).

In HoCo, Pastor Gerald Griffith, 41, got 15 years yesterday on two counts of sexual abuse of a minor.

Following the Michael Vick business, Baltimore is stepping up its investigaton of dogfights.

Some half-baked and twisted Chubby Hubbies broke three glass windows at the Inner Harbor Ben & Jerry's.

I think Half Baked would be a better description of the Ben and Jerry vandals. And to answer the store manager's question of how it can happen in the middle of the Inner Harbor? Well, umm, because it's Baltimore.

To fully appreciate the significance of the Mayor's task force on dogfighting:

1) no new statute is put in place - it's all about conduct that was just as illegal last week, only now Sheila Dixon needs some media exposure

2) there is a pretty clear correlation between hoodlums' behavior and a) dogfights and b) guns & drugs. The correlation is.... most everything done by hoodlums creates problems. So don't look to dogs, or guns, or heroin. It's not the things, it's the people. Incarcerate the people who behave this way. The people.

So, why have we not gone after dogfighters before? Was it because we had no idea they were doing this stuff in this city? Nope.

It's because there are two lists of Maryland statutes in Baltimore.

List A - those Sheila Dixon wishes enforced, and

List B - those crimes Sheila Dixon chooses to allow.

Newsflash: she's not really supposed to have any List B.

The Mayor of a city doesn't have any authority to permit violations of statute. What she's doing is promoting negligence by ridiculously understaffing the police department, and that's where her political support comes from. Perpetrators and their criminal sympathizers.

It's that simple. No more task forces, studies, committees, etc. You have a massive population of hoodlums here. They misbehave. Sufficiently so that courts of competent jurisdiction presently have all the leigislative authority they need to incarcerate these people for the conduct which comes naturally to them. But hoodlums need to arrested. Put them away. All of them.

Will it be costly? Yes. Will the male population of Baltimore kinda vanish? Yes.

So what? It's called the law. And it's the only way for Baltimore to regain a semblance of civilization.

Don't focus on dogs. Or guns. Or any other object. It's about rotten people who need to be taken out of the general population.

Just do it.

The Omar Parker story warmed my heart. I hope that piece of human garbage has to serve every day of those 20 years.

Cybes, what makes you think the police are pursuing the perps of 'the great ice cream caper' ??

My place was similarly invaded back at the end of 2006 and the very, very clear prints have still not been processed. The crime lab has relatively fewer personnel than even the patrol units.

So that y'all understand, you don't have any police in this town. Thank you, Mayor Dixon.

Ben & Jerry's has more clout than you do.

I believe you're making my point regarding the selective enforcement in this town. Most of the 'public' services here are earmarked for very private recipients. And that's just called theft.

Actually, you're right, galt, they probably aren't and have no clue who did it. I just wanted to call them chubby hubbies. Humor me.

So 1,000 posts, can you believe it? And half a million hits!

I really need to get a life!
