Freakonomics does The Wire, episode 3
Sudhir Venkatesh and his thug pals are back for episode 3 of The Wire. And not to do a shameless plug or anything, but Venkatesh's book Gang Leader for a Day is fascinating.

Their reaction to episode 4 is going to be interesting...
Officer Jerome K. Hill of the SE District was investigated by IAD for a complaint of improper handling of money and assaulted an undercover IAD officer. He is in Central Booking.
Judiciary vice-chair Sen. Lisa Gladden decries federal budget cuts, but in the same breath states O'malley's " very efficient, so I won’t worry where the money goes."
Not as if that were your job or anything.
Yeah, riding busses is real safe:
Robbery // An 18-year-old Carver High School student was standing at a bus stop at North Avenue and Bentalou Street on Wednesday afternoon when he was struck and kicked by three men in their late teens or early 20s who robbed him of two cell phones - all valued at $240. The injured student made his way home, and his mother took him to Union Memorial Hospital. He was treated for a broken nose and an injured left eye. No arrests had been made.
I love that column!
I hope it's going to be a weekly thing. Looks like it is.
its so obvious that people are being TARGETED at these bus stops...Sheila Dixon is probaly an undercover heroin adict, wouldnt suprise me ONE bit in this city!
On the Wire: Noooo! Prop Joe.
On the SE: There's quite a few Po-Po thieves in that place. Shame.
In recognizing the overall loss of such a great show, I started seeking out any videos I could find about The Wire. I found a great one where David Simon talks about the affections he feels for Baltimore and how the city has influenced his work.
