I don’t get what they’re trying to say… we’re at and have been at a 20 year low, not a 30 year low. (The misperception may be the fault of city officials, who keep saying we’re at “historic” lows even though all we experienced was a “near-historic” drop in 2008. We’re nowhere near historic lows, raw total or rate-wise). The BPD says we’re at 137 homicides, not 139 as the IV article states. But even if we’re running even with last year’s numbers, wouldn’t that still be a 20 year low?? What do they mean “so much for the 20 year low?” Until we surpass that number, we’re still at the lowest rate since 1989/90.
