There's more to this story than they're reporting. Darryl was a former neighbor of mine. He is actually a Special Police Officer, not a security guard. For those who don't know what that means, he is a privately employed Police Officer who works for a private security firm. Special Police are armed, sworn and have arrest powers vested by the Superintendent of State Police on the property they are hired to protect. However, they technically do not meet the definition of a MPTC certified officer since they are privately employed and undergo much less training than certified officers. They drive unmarked Crown Vics with sirens and lights and must provide and qualify with their own duty weapon. I'm guessing that he was arrested on some technicality but he wasn't some career criminal pretending to be a cop that they are portraying him to be. Just sayin...
