School shooter to be charged as an adult

Robert "Bobby" Wayne Gladden Jr., 15, will be charged as adult with attempted first-degree murder and assault in the Perry Hall High shooting. For what it's worth, Gladden's father has a criminal history on the JIS that includes assault with attempt to murder, battery, malicious destruction of property, theft, "marihuana" possession and "not marihuana" possession. County police say bullying was *not* an issue, and that Gladden had brought a disassembled 40-year-old shotgun, 27 rounds of ammo and a bottle of vodka to school on the bus that morning. His victim is out of surgery, still in critical condition, and apparently has Down syndrome.

Meanwhile, Gawker reports that the shooter's Facebook page status has been shared over a thousand times. And a picture. Says Gawker, "he looks like your standard Skrillex-listening mall-goth." Or rather a Rammstein-listening mall goth (guy on his Facebook cover = Till Lindemann-Rammstein, see below.

Such Bitchassness!! This kid was getting bullied so he made an example out of a special needs student?I hope they mop the floor with his young ass in jail.

I've heard around town (but not seen in any media) that Gladden was also a special-ed student (though it isn't called that there, I forget what it's called-- "specialized services"?). I hope in jail he gets help to learn how to deal with his conflict and anger issues appropriately-- stuff he clearly wasn't taught at home-- but no doubt your hope will be the one that comes true!

It needs to come to light what drove this kid to bring a gun to the first day of school. Did someone threaten him via text, Facebook, etc. As far as the Down Syndrome victim, it is not known that he was targeted, it just seems as though he was an innocent bystander sitting eating lunch. This was an attempted Columbine gone wrong.

As for the father and his many charges, I am a product of a junkie mother who was in and out of prison all of my childhood life. In high school, I looked like I was eight years old and had a lisp. There was really nobody that I could talk to, but I just went day by day and dealt with it, because that is just what I did. Some just take their frustrations to extreme levels. I wish that the bullying aspect would come to light. My son was bulled throughout middle school, in the Baltimore County school system. They had a "if we didn't see it, it didn't happen" attitude, and at times put my son at fault. It wouldn't surprise me if some of those kids speaking to reporters, weren't the same bullying this boy. All in all, this boy needs an attentive ear and some help, not wishes of becoming fresh meat in prison.

Baltimore County police today said that bullying of the shooter was not a factor in the event.

However, we've learned in the past Bobby Gladden had bullied other students and set some kid's clothes on fire. He wasn't bullied, he was a bully.
