50 Ways to Cleave Your Lover

Fifty-five years for Larry Holly for the murder of Ryshawn Cox on N. Belnord Ave. in 2011.

Ninety-five and 110 years for Don Pulley and Terrence Rollins-Bey, who killed DeAngelo Bass and set his car on fire to conceal the crime, which was caught on camera.

Shawn Stevenson

Two life sentences for Shawn Stevenson in the death of Somchanh Sipayboun, the mother of his children and partner of 13 years. Stevenson raped her, bound her with duct tape, broke her spine and stabbed* her 14 times.

In the meantime, human tofu slice Anthony Brown has a press release re. his domestic violence plan, which involves a network of screening centers* and changing the standard of proof for victims to get a restraining order, and somethingsomething about cell phones. For his part, Doug Gansler, the guy who sent his son to a $33k school that's the source of the local saying "never drink from a cup from a Landon boy" has fired back with some blahblah about cheap political points. And our Bro-torney General may be onto something: as governor Brown won't be in any kind of position to change legal burdens of proof, and "setting up centers" = throwing money at the problem, while training health care providers and officers to assess domestic violence risk would be a lot simpler, cheaper and is backed by evidence that it's effective. Anyway, there's also a lady and some kind of Republicans in the governors' race, but they were apparently too busy blow-drying hair/reading from the Necronomicon to talk to Mike Dresser.

Rodney "Noah" Hubert of Pikesville was indicted for pimping a 16-year-old

As one might expect, the family of Anthony Anderson has filed a lawsuit* against the BPD for an undisclosed amount. Anderson died of internal bleeding while being arrested in September of 2012.

Your exes will be so sad: a bill coming up next year could make it a felony to post explicit pictures of someone without their consent.

TIL Molly and ecstasy are not the same thing. Wait, or are they? Quit confusing me and just tell me what to freak out about, Internet!

SRB's still claiming no knowledge of the dirty "Smart Meters" bidding process.

There was a hearing yesterday on the troubled Detention Center; officials say cell phone blocking technology is going to fix stuff, because without cell phones there is no other way for human beings to communicate with one another.

What did I miss?

Seven people shot in a "cluster," including a 15-year-old,* reportedly stemming from a disagreement over a dice game.

Antoine Jordan
I thought domestic violence was going down? Not any more. Some fucktard in Dundalk shot his daughter, wife and himself.* And (life with all but) 22 years for Dominic Matthews, who allegedly shot his girlfriend in the stomach after she refused to marry him.

A shooting at a Guilford Ave hookah lounge on Monday* and one arrest, a doleful Antoine Jordan.

So in the Rogers Forge shooting, one of the shooters was mad that the victim wouldn't let him use his washing machine. Now a second guy's been arrested* but no word on his motivation.

Dingleberry surprise Patrick McDonough (R-7th, HarfCo n BaltCo) wants to propose a "stand your ground" law* in Maryland. Meanwhile MD Republicans are a hot mess of infighting,* impotence,* boozehoundery* and illegal crabbing.* If ever a time and place was ripe for a Progressive third party it's wide open, y'all.

4th Circuit Upholds MD's "May Issue" Gun License Laws

... AmmoLand weeps.

Michael Wesley, wanted for the murder of Rachel Curtis, was picked up at a Winson-Salem bus stop*

Benny Davis, 24, was arrested for the murder of D'Andre Thomas in Remington.

A man pushed a woman from a moving car on Clipper Mill Road (March 10).

Why so many domestic-violence killings in the city lately?* *shrug* -- oh, but definitely put this on your calendar:  "THE BALTIMORE LAWYERS’ CHAPTER OF THE FEDERALIST SOCIETY Proudly Presents KATE OBENSHAIN Fox News Channel Contributor, former Vice President of the Young American’s Foundation and author of Divider in Chief, talking about 'The Left’s War on Women.' Thursday, April 18th – 12:00 noon, Semmes, Bowen & Semmes. The event is free of charge. RSVP Brian Fish at asabrianfish@earthlink.net to ensure that our lunch order is sufficient."

County and federal agents nabbed a woman running a brothel in the residential area of Joppa Rd.* in Towson, whose customers have apparently been annoying her neighbors for years.

Demetris Downing Sr. (Sr?!) , 25, was shot to death Saturday night in the 2100 block of McHenry St. shortly before 7 p.m., a block from his house.

Two police officers were shot at Orleans Street and Port Streets. both are alive ... and female!

What is going on?! Four horrible domestic murders in two days. Jeremy and Justin Herring, 18 and 20 years old, were murdered by their father in MoCo.

And the third MD dad-on-mom murder in the past three weeks: "Police said Anna Bergman, 20, was shot in the head by her 3-year-old son's father, whose name has not been released, in the 300 block of Westshire Road on Monday morning. Bergman was pronounced dead at the scene." Update: a court commissioner had refused to grant Anna Bergman a restraining order Friday night. The three-year-old, also Ryan Butler, is in custody of the murderer's parents.

The story of Christy Freeman, the taxi-company-owner and Ocean-City-baby-body-collector, is grey-area and getting creepier. WBAL says "four infant cadavers have been found since last week" (a very peculiar word choice, almost always used to describe a body being used for educational purposes), and goes on to say that all of the babies were pre-term and stillborn. Nevertheless, the prosecutor down there says he plans to charge her under the fetal homicide law.

The Baltimore City Grand Jury today indicted Lontona Maria Webb, 38, of the 3600 block of Clarinth Rd., Michael Moore, 26, of the 3600 block of Clarinth Rd. and Latoya Renee James, 24, of the 1300 block of Dalton Rd. on July 26, 2007 in an alleged theft scheme involving the property of detainees at the Baltimore Central Booking and Intake Facility (CBIF). The indictments allege that the incidents occurred at CBIF between November 2006 and March 2007. Details from the SA's office:
After hearing testimony, the Grand Jury returned a total of 32 indictments, alleging credit card theft, identity fraud, conspiracy to commit theft and misconduct in office involving 8 victims who were arrested and transported to the Baltimore Central Booking and Intake Facility (CBIF) for processing. Webb is charged in 22 separate indictments, Moore in 7 indictments and James in 3 indictments.

Webb is a former Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services Correctional Officer. James is still a Correctional Officer.

Court documents allege that between November 2006 and March 2007 various defendants were processed at Central Booking and Intake Facility (CBIF) and reported their credit cards stolen and used during their period of incarceration. Investigation showed that defendant Lontona Webb, who was employed as a correctional officer during this time, and Michael Moore, of the same address, conspired to use the cards to purchase items in both Baltimore City & County. Lontona James worked the same shift at CBIF as Webb, and also allegedly took a credit card and used it in Baltimore County.
Baltimore County police said they've arrested four men and charged them in the shooting of 24-year-old student Herve Massaba, who is now paralyzed from the chest down.

Dear Friend
Baltimore or Baghdad: which is the greater American tragedy?

As of March 19, 2007, violence has claimed the lives of 47 Americans in Baghdad since the start of the year. During the same period, violence claimed 61 lives in Baltimore, Maryland - most due to gunshot wounds.

Thousands marched this past weekend to end the loss of life in Baghdad. By contrast, the cry of outrage in Baltimore has barely risen to the level of a whisper."

The Baltimore City Grand Jury indicted Carolyn Redd of the 5500 block of Jonquail Avenue, and Lawrence Gee, of Monastery Avenue for the first-degree murder of Mary Page. Court documents allege Carolyn Redd, the victim's daughter and her boyfriend Lawrence Gee lived with Mary Page at her residence sometime before August 19, 2006. Court documents also allege the couple was asked to leave the home. Court documents further allege the couple was seen near Ms. Page's home around the time of her death. Arraignment is scheduled for April 9, 2007, before Judge Lynn Stewart, 215 Mitchell Courthouse. Assistant State's Attorney John Cox will prosecute this case.

He's Just Not That Into You Dept.
Former Baltimore Police officer Kabeer Din was found guilty of conspiring to have his girlfriend murdered. Din wanted her dead, says the NYT, because he feared she'd "report something that would damage his reputation with the [NY] Police Department." In spite of the spate damning evidence, would-be victim Sherry Nohar is standing by her man.

HarfCo SA Joseph Cassilly is joining the choir against the proposed anti-gang bill. Or he just wanted to use that metaphor, "pig in a swimsuit."

Off-duty officers thwarted a robbery at Fantasies strip club in South Baltimore, and one would-be robber is dead.

Dating "troubled Tommy" tended to start out nicely with cards and roses, but things would go swiftly downhill from there.

Slots of fun: a tape of now-disgraced Senator Bromwell sounding very Sopranos as he riffs on the "big bucks" potential of casinos, slots and statewide OTBs.

Things that make you go ?: What's with a 25 percent difference between the level of robberies Comsat figures show in the City, and the figures State Police have?

30 Years For Murderer Caught on Camera

At a hearing yesterday, Earl Holeman, 38, of Capitol Heights, Maryland pled guilty to first-degree murder. Judge Wanda K. Heard sentenced Holeman to life in prison and suspended all but 30 years. The State presented the following facts as part of the plea agreement in open court:
At approximately 10 a.m. on January 1, 2006, Holeman stabbed Michelle Denton, 49, his former girlfriend, in the throat with a knife, as she waited at a bus stop in the 300 block of West Fayette Street. The State entered into evidence seven still photographs captured from Citiwatch cameras that show the defendant fleeing the scene. One of the seven photographs positively identifies the defendant.

While the actual murder was not videotaped, several cameras captured Holeman as he ran from the crime scene, and ran up Paca and Lexington Streets. A camera operator was able to direct police officers from the crime scene to Holeman, leading to his apprehension and arrest. This is the second murder case where prosecutors have negotiated a plea agreement and have noted in the court record that camera footage would be included as evidence in the State's evidence.
