December 17 Nite

Executions have been put on hold in California and Florida, as Maryland's top court hears various challenges to the gruesome practice.

Chesterstown police shot toddler-threatening lunatic Clifton Blanchfield, but didn't kill him.

we heard four loud-ass gunshots tonight at 7 p.m. in hampden of all places. i called the cops and saw a cop car slowly rolling through the area a couple minutes later but i don't think they found anything.

coincidentally, we had just finished watching the super-depressing finale of the wire five minutes beforehand and were already kinda bugged out from that.

The FBI reports violent crime increasing across the nation's cities. Cities which have understaffed their police departments during the lull of the 90's will be deluged as serious crime continues to increase.

One of the City's fine high schools exhibits more of the City's fine conduct.

Am I losing my mind? (don't answer that- rhetorical question only)

Police Chief Leonard Hamm claims his department has never been asked to comment on its (dubious) arrest policies, meanwhile people are protesting them in front of City Hall. Perhaps City Council's Public Safety Subcommittee should be asked to give him a subpoena so that he may explain himself fully under penalty of perjury.

Further, he claims to be a champion of quality arrests vs. quantity (in the city with perhaps the greatest proportion of nonmeritorious arrests in the nation). So, if he's the Commish and he makes the rules, why do the questionable practices continue?

He also appears to claim credit for the nationwide drop in crime before he became Commissioner.
