Chambers pleaded guilty to the following statement of facts:
On October 18, 2005 police arrived on the scene in the 1800 block of McKean Avenue where they found Shanika Pretlow suffering from gunshot wounds, including a wound to the head. Medics rushed Ms. Pretlow to Maryland General Hospital where she was pronounced dead. An autopsy by the State’s Medical Examiner revealed that Ms. Pretlow had been shot four times and that all of the entry wounds went from the back to the front and she was negative for the AIDS virus. A .32 caliber bullet was recovered from her body. Her death was ruled a homicide.Assistant State’s Attorney Lisa Phelps prosecuted this case.
On October 22, 2005 detectives received information from sources with information about a shooting advising them that Brandon Chambers was seen in a nightclub bragging about shooting Ms. Pretlow after having sex with her. On November 7, 2005 another witness advised police that he had seen Brandon Chambers leave a local bar with Ms. Pretlow on the day of her death and that he was now bragging that he “had to kill her.” Chambers killed Pretlow believing she was HIV-positive and that he had unprotected sex with her. In 2007 DNA testing of evidence recovered from Ms. Pretlow’s body revealed Brandon Chambers genetic profile as the major and only contributor.

Why the hell did they allow a cold-blooded monster like this to plead out? It sounds like they had a slam-dunk case! This animal should've been taken to trial and imprisoned for the rest of his worthless life (what he really deserved of course is execution, but that'll never happen because our pussified society doesn't believe that victims of terrible crimes deserve justice.)

58 years for an armed robbery where nobody was (physically) harmed or hurt and now 25 years for an execution-style murder. Am I the only one on the planet that sees a problems with this? I've got to be the only one who gives a shit about the fairness of sentences.
I have no doubt there were evidentiary issues that the press release is not telling us. Judge Themelis is not a person to give a light sentence unless there is a reason.
You're right Cham, a rational person (or a functioning legal system) would give a armed robber 25 years and a murderer at least 58 years locked away from a caring society.
First though, we might went to work on getting a "caring society" before we get a functioning legal system.

A functioning legal system would give the shitbird armed robber the same sentence but would execute the murderer. Every violent criminal should be locked up for life or killed.

Seeing as how this was a plea bargain I doubt that the judge had much of a choice in what sentence to give.
I have a friend who has been dancing with Judge Themelis for a couple of years now. Judge Themelis is a toughie, I credit him with saving my friend's life.
