Gun Nut Busted

On Facebook, the BPD reports a major gun seizure:
On April 30, Southest District Drug Unit & BPD SWAT executed a search warrant at 711 Oldham Street.

The following property was recovered:

Norinco SKS (w/ 10 rounds in clip)
Norinco SKS (w/10 rounds in clip)
Norinco AK-47 (w/30 rounds in clip)
Enfield bolt action 303 cal.

Also about 1000 rounds of ammo for the weapons. Suspect arrested was Augustine Tambuvello W/M/9-7-48, he has prior convictions of felony narcotics.
Notes Sebastian Sassi: "Two things: a Norinco is an AK knockoff, it's not a true AK47 which is select fire by definition (ie, semi auto and full auto).

Also, those rifles also have magazines, not clips. Clips are devices that band rounds together leaving them exposed at the dangerous end, whereas magazines (much like the magazines in your duty Glock 22 .40SW sidearm) fully encase the rounds."

Just to reassure you that I'm keeping on top of all things death-related:

"Assistant U.S. Attorney John Purcell said Friday that Patrick Byers is "a dangerous man" and will always be dangerous. He says a death sentence would not be an easy choice but reminded jurors that the man Byers killed, Carl Lackl, made a tough decision when he identified Byers as the gunman in another fatal shooting."

And in another DP case from many, many years ago:

"Phyllis Bricker hasn't been able to speak to her parents since the day they were murdered, she said.

"I'd give anything to talk to my mother and father," she said.

The Brickers feel that people who have not experienced such a loss should not pass judgment on the death penalty, especially when they have never heard a word of testimony in the courtroom.

"If they came home and found their loved ones brutally murdered, would they still be concerned about the person who murdered them," said Phyllis Bricker. "

Why were these firearms seized? Were they stolen?

This article is wrong on several levels. The SKS is not an AK variant. The SKS was the precursor to the AK. The AK was designed to use the same rounds as the SKS as the Russian Military had millions of 7.62x39 rounds in their stocks. The SKS is not illegal to own in MD and is not a regulated firearm, meaning you can cash and carry one from a FFL dealer. Also, the AK47 is not select fire unless it is a Full Auto AK. Most if the AK and AK variants sold in the US are only semi-auto. Finally, in MD it is perfectly legal to own 30 round magazines. The law stipulates you cannot buy, sell, or transfer any magazine greater than 20 rounds in capacity. Possession is perfectly legal.

Terry:

I wouldn't be surprised if the people they seized them from had felony convictions. There's certainly no shortage of felons in this town.

Terry,

I agree. No where in this article is anything mentioned except the possession of legal firearms and accessories.

Additionally,

Being a "Gun Nut" is NOT a crime. In fact, it is protected by the Bill of Rights.

The article stated:
