Be wary out there people. I wasn't shot, maimed, robbed, burgled or physically harmed, but a supermarket cashier took me for $9. The scam went like this. I bought $5 worth of dairy products. I handed the cashier a $20 bill, she gave me back the receipt on top, a $5 bill and a $1 bill instead of a $10 underneath. I didn't notice until the next day when I found everything neatly folder in my purse. I called the store and they told me the cashier had come up short by some change. Which means she pocketed the $10 and probably threw whatever change she had in the register to make up for the missing dollar and not look suspicious.

The moral of this story is count your change, because once you leave the store and the cashier goes home, there is nothing you can do about it. If you do catch it the cashier can just look sheepish, apologize and explain she made an honest mistake. It's all win win win for her.
