Billion with a B

Oh crap, one Terry Davis, 48, was found dead and beaten in a house in the 3900 block of The Alameda.

And two men were shot last night in the 500 block of E. 35th street, one died.

"City Police Search Patterson Park for a Rapist." A sketch was released but it's extremely... sketchy. There's a crime meeting tonight at 7 at the Breath of God Lutheran Church at 141 South Clinton Street.

Jayne Miller did math, discovered Baltimore's crime costs taxpayers one billion dollars a year. That's gif-worthy, baby!

Ricky "if you're not Blood you die" Horton was convicted of killing Sean Rhodes and shooting his own girlfriend and Rudy Hyman* outside the Ras-a-Ter club on North Avenue Jan 13 of last year.

WJZ has uploaded Tyrone West's full autopsy report.

The mayor talked to Dan Roderickzzzzz yesterday and Batts talked to him at noon.
Batts says he's going to fight crime with a focus on 17 'enforcement zones.'* What are those? 'Ultra-concentrated' 'micro-spaces,' of course. But don't ask where they are! "Batts declined to identify the new enforcement zones, saying that 'criminals read the newspaper.'" And the Sun's Yvonne Wenger says the city will spend $305,000 on ShotSpotter technology, which uses a computer program to detect the source of gunshots within a few yards.

Meanwhile, the BPD held a Twitter tweetup in honor of Women in Policing Week, with an actual lady police making answers come out of a computer machine using her brain parts and lady fingers.

Super nice friends posted a GoFundMe request for their pal Eric who was robbed.

Twenty-five federal years for gun-brandishing customer-shooting serial robber Hatratico Smith

HarfCo police shot one Brian Ogle, who was armed with a machete.

In D.C. one Steven Slaughter was arrested after approaching women on the metro, claiming he was collecting money for a charity and then showing them a cell phone photo of his dangly bits.

Via Ian Duncan, one Dellando Campbell was arrested in Lemoore, California for the 2009 murder of Serika Holness in Kent County. Ian Duncan also got an early Valentine from a person in Orlando who owns some very special stamps.

Transparancies

A body was found on a popular wooded trail* near Falls Road and Old Pimlico north of Lake Roland and Robert E. Lee Park. Nefarious activity is not unknown to the park area, given its convenient location-- in August 2008 one Sirlilar Jewelle Stokes, 19, member of the Bloods* and a female patron of the 2 O'Clock strip club, lured 18-year-old dancer Ashley Davis into her car, took her to the park at dawn, shot her in the head, then returned to the same club later that afternoon, where she was arrested.

Just in time for Domestic Violence Prevention Month, a new Baltimore's Most Wanted: Christopher Troy Goode, who stabbed his babies' mom in the neck and then gutted her like a fish. This happened September 12, but I guess the BPD sat on an APB to make this special month extra special.

The shutdown of popular online drug marketplace The Silk Road and the arrest of its founder/operator Dread Pirate Roberts has a local angle,* the agent who busted him is from MD. And a Hopkins Prof answers some FAQ about the Deep Web and Bitcoins.*

File under Steel, Gonads of: a theft from the Northeastern District police station.

Good for Fox Baltimore, still beating the drum about the lack of transparency in our local government.

Bad for citizens: complaints about too much transparency when it comes to the defecating homeless.

Driving while stupid

Fenton's story appears to corroborate witnesses' and Jayne Miller's version of the James Smith/Kendra Diggs barricade/murder situation: police rescued Diggs from the house, but left her to die on the sidewalk once Smith started shooting.*

One of Wednesday's homicide victims, Joseph Haskins, was the mayor's cousin.* Also TIL her brother Wendell Rawlings was attacked with a sword in 2002.

Allegedly speedballing alleged vehicular manslaughterer Johnny Johnson was indicted today on nine counts.

 Larry Feldman
?!? allegation: that when the State's Attorney's office wanted to speak with Larry Feldman's client Isiah Callaway about one Tavon Davis, Feldman called Davis and suggested Davis deal with him using the "Sicilian option." A few days later Callway was killed in a $2,000 murder for hire.

At first I read this headline as "Charles Street to be closed for 29 years"... which is probably true.

The Spectator is out of jail and Tweeting.

House Republicans locate nards, demand jail tour, O'Malley renews cry for cell-phone blocking in prison,* a topic first broached in 2007 after a prisoner used a cell phone to order a murder from prison. Really you don't need a cell phone for that, any old prison phone will do. But this state loves nothing more than a one-shot expensive solution.

Scan Baltimore picked up --and Fenton verified-- a ridiculous, breathless car chase in the Northeast over a stop sign not fully stopped at and a marijuana cigarette on Wednesday starting at 10:09 p.m. (About 60% through the clip here)

A woman groped and carjacked on E. Fayette.

Guilty pleas from two restroom pickpocket/identity thieves.

The Bloods still exist in HoCo, 18 were indicted yesterday

The Belvedere's Suite Ultralounge is padlocked.

Stealing from a yeshiva, oh no! The assistant principal, no less! Writes the SAO,
At arraignment yesterday, Jay Kenneth Wagner, 32, of the 3400 block of Labyrinth Road pled guilty to continuing theft. Judge Timothy J. Doory sentenced Wagner to a suspended two-year prison term and two years probation. Wagner paid $13,717 in restitution in court yesterday.

Between January 18, 2007 and May 19, 2009 stole over $13,717 from Maimonides Academy/Yeshivat Rambam School. Wagner worked as assistant principal at the school. The theft was discovered by the school and involved a series of school checks taken by Wagner which were either cashed or deposited into his account. Assistant State’s Attorney and Economic Crimes Division Chief Elizabeth Ritter prosecuted this case.

Driver Warning?

From a community listerv.
"At Tuesday's community meeting at the SW District Police Station, we received this warning:

Don't flash headlights at any car with no lights on!

Police officers working with the DARE program tell us that if you are driving after dark and see an on! -coming car with no headlights on, do not flash your lights at them! This is a common "Bloods" member "initiation game." The new gang member under initiation drives along with no headlights; the first car to flash their headlights at him is now his target." He is required to turn around, chase that car and than shoot to kill every individual in the vehicle in order to complete his initiation requirements. Their intent is to have all the new bloods nationwide drive around on Friday and Saturday nights with their headlights off. In order to be accepted into the gang, they have to shoot and kill individuals in the first auto that does a courtesy flash to warm them that their lights are off.

Make sure you share this information with all the drivers in your family!"

I know it's a legend, but the "Tuesday's community meeting at the SW District Police Station" made me wonder if the Bloods had heard the legend and decided it was a good idea... but yes, it is NOT TRUE.... when I called the Southwestern as soon as I said the word "headlights" (didn't even have to finish) the officer who answered the phone was like "no, it's not true, it's an urban legend, the Bloods don't do that and no one in the Southwestern ever said that."
So there you go.

April 26

A man was stabbed to death at 11 a.m. this morning at the McDonald's on 31 S. Calvert Street (about two blocks from the courthouse).

Yesterday, I forgot to add a link to this week's "Murder Ink." Joseph Ensey Sr. died on April 20 from complications related to a gunshot wound he received in 1991; his death is considered one of 2007's homicides. Also covered this week are the deaths of Kevin Randall, Johnnie James, Christopher Wayman, Van Johnson, and Damon Dubose.

43-year-old mother, grandmother, and 28-time arrestee Uywanda Peterson died behind a bar on Belair Rd. after being shot with a stun gun by police. Surprisingly, witnesses and police have completely different stories to tell.

Three teenage boys were shot last night while sitting on one of the boys' front porch.

Damon Dubose was shot to death on Sunday night in the 3500 block of Woodland Ave.

16-year-old Keonya Christian-Cannon helped 13-year-old shooting victim Angel Burrell. Burrell was a bystander when a fight broke out over West Baltimore gang turf on Friday.

County police are seeking two tall white men in a small maroon pickup truck. On April 14, the men hit another car in White Marsh, stabbed one of the passengers in that car, then rammed the other car repeatedly. Meanwhile, city police are still searching for the man who killed Charles Erdman after a minor traffic accident on March 3. The driver was a black man in a Ford Explorer with stolen plates (link goes to video of accident), and there were 1 or 2 passengers in the SUV.

April 15

WTF?! Someone poured sulfuric acid on the playground equipment at Victory Villa Elementary in Middle River, sending a two-year-old to the hospital.

Oh good, the Sun says our gang problem's hemorrhaging.
Actually, it sounds like the problem's doing pretty well for itself.
For would-be Blood teens, "you get a secret handshake, you get some special clothes, and automatically, you've got 300 friends" and may get to learn Swahili. As for cops, "having gang members openly wearing colors and identifying themselves publicly makes it easier to track criminal activity." And the neighbors get BBQs!
...though (in Part I) gang founders admit "we never fed the people like the Black Panthers did."

PdJ: Bethesda dentist David E. Fuster of MoCo, who fled to Mexico after being accused of drugging a 15-year-old with nitrous oxide and raping her.

Jemini Jones wants his job and reputation back.

BMore living tip: if you suspect someone's overdosed, give e'm mouth-to-mouth instead of trying to set their fingers on fire.

Evening

The 10-year-old boy shot yesterday was the cousin of the witness to a double murder, the case scheduled for trial today. BUT the latest news is it wasn't a case of witness itimidation at all... somebody was just trying to steal a jacket. Well, that's a relief!

Neil Rivers, 20, was killed trying to stop Deandre Lamont Williams, 18, from taking a dirtbike. His family is outraged that Williams was out of jail to commit the murder in the first place, and that he got only 50 years.

Shaidon "Papa Don" Blake was found guilty of second-degree murder and conspiracy in the death of Terrence Randolph, 19. Two other co-defendants, Janet Johnson and Jermile Harvey, were also found guilty of first-degree murder and conspiracy. "Prosecutors said Blake is a high-ranking member of the Bloods who came from California to get Terrence Randolph and other gang members in line."

April 4

Horrible: another Hispanic-family murder suicide, this time in MoCo! Mom is alive and found the bodies.
What is going on out there?

Don "Overkill" Papa of California's Bounty Hunter Bloods "denies that he bound, tortured, burned and suffocated Terrance Randolph, 19, in a West Baltimore house a year ago this month." But, "he admits he was drawn to the city's lucrative drug culture ... Pennsylvania Avenue is a freaking gold mine,' he said to police, according to court papers. He boasted that he made $180,000 selling drugs there one night. 'This is the heroin capital of America, ain't no more dope sold nowhere than right there on Pennsylvania Avenue. It's the largest open air drug market in the world for heroin." But take note, "... these gangs here are not even Bloods ... these are a bunch of Internet surfers ... none of these gangs are in allegiance with an official Blood set."

Skitzy Vitali A. Davydov pled guilty to killing Dr. Wayne Fenton in Rockville.

Pervs of the day: couple Diana Cornwell, 34, and her husband, Jesse, 32, who have been "accused of soliciting money for sex in an advertisement on a popular Web site - with her husband acting as her pimp."
gounaris
PDJ of last December 5, Timothy Gounaris, will get 60 days after an Alford plea in the County.

For "the 13th time in 15 months ... charges have been dropped against a defendant accused of a homicide or other violent crime" in PGC. Wonder how often that happens in the City?
