According to the Sun Baltimore is having it's most murderous year ever so far. If we continue at the current rate we'll hit 51 homicides per 100,000 people by the end of the year, which beats the record from 1993 of 49 per 100,000. But don't worry, Sheila Dixon insists that crime is down.

Reading the poll numbers reminds me of a Chip Franklin "man on the street" interview during the first MO'M mayoral election: (para-phrasing)

CF: Who did you vote for?

MAN: I voted for all democrats!

CF: why?

MAN: Cause I been working hard for little money. I can hardly live and the government ain't doing nothing to help me!

CF: Sir, the democrats have been in control of the government for the last 30 years. don't you think its time to try something else?

Man: (silence)

Giuliani cleaned up NYC in a matter of years so there is no reason Baltimore can't do the same. Certainly, some may argue Giuliani employed Nazi-like tactics to accomplish his clean up of crime, however, you cannot argue with the results. I'm sure any homeowner in Baltimore would be ecstatic to live in as safe an environment as Manhattan and many areas in the surrounding boroughs. Not to mention their property value would skyrocket.

The police department has managed to lose DNA evidence from a case against one of their officers who was charged with raping a 16-year old he'd arrested. Un-friggin-believable! No wonder people don't trust the Baltimore PD.

There are two rape cases involving city police officers where key evidence has gone missing, remember the case against Gemini Jones anyone??? Same story.

Oh, this is rich: Martin O'Malley was on televion about the Crime Crisis in Baltimore.

He ascribes it to 'opportunistic politicians'.

Pot
Calling
Kettle
Black

Mr. O'Malley, we're being killed here. Declare a f#@king state of emergency in Baltimore, please.
