September 25, afternoon

Another West Baltimore murder

A man was shot in the head this morning at the intersection of Mount Royal Ave. and Whitelock St. Police have not released an identity and are investigating. Izzat 200 this year already??

It seems our sister city Detroit also keeps secrets in its Medical Examiner's office. Motown's corpse-bagger was dressed down for speaking in a New York Times article and was then suspended by the City of Detroit.

it izz.
Actually probably more like 205. But we'll probably never know for sure...

Add "corpse collector" to the list of jobs I'm glad I don't have.

So we're probably looking at around 280 by year-end.

I don't remember off hand but does anyone know where we were last year at this time?

205, according to Ditkoff, which Cybes' number, as well.

Guys, I reviewed the FBI stats for U.S. cities.

Of 26 cities which are either population commensurate and/or similarly urban to Baltimore City, they have an average population of 570,000, which is 56% larger than Balto. and average 61 murders per year, versus our 269. If their numbers were scaled to our population, the resulting murder number becomes 68.

Just so everyone appreciates that this town is not characteristically urban. It's just a disaster.

Pardon me, the average population of those cities is 11% smaller than Charm City. I keep transposing that population figure. Maybe it reflects wishful thinking that the rotten half of our city will one day just leave.
