Wow, when I read the latest entry in the Zach Sowers site all I could think was "I support prison rape." Yeah, I know that's horrible, but I want something really awful to happen to those little animals. Hopefully they'll all get life sentences. I know the ringleader was busted for carjacking a few months back. In any serious justice system a prior violent felony + attempted first degree murder would result in mandatory life w/o parole.

Actually I think that Zach's attackers may end up getting some serious prison time. They were stupid enough to a)attack someone whose case would attract a lot of media attention and b)leave a mountain of evidence pointing to their guilt. If this story hadn't led to so much news coverage they'd probably be allowed to plead to a five year sentence and end up serving maybe a third of that, but at this point it's become too much of a high-profile story.

Well, if the rapist is HIV positive then death is the end result, so you're getting two for the price of one. Like I said though, the rational part of me knows that prison rape is wrong and shouldn't be tolerated, even if there are people who have it coming. Our current violent & anarchic (is that a word?) prison system only makes bad criminals even worse. I have to wonder if a single person was every "corrected" back in the old Maryland House of Correction.

No matter the gender or age, the victim lives with the scars of the assalt for the rest of their lives. To answer the question, research how many rape victims who recieve little or no counseling and support kill themselves. That should give you an idea of the answer to the question.
Great. Let's endorse prison-rape. That way, when we as a community moan and groan about what animals these criminals are, and how sub-human they are, we can at least feel comfortable in knowing that we too are barbarians.

As someone who's just been through jury duty-- I am really really really worried about the outcome of any jury trial in Baltimore city.
I could not believe the idiocy of some of my fellow jurors. It is true what some say about court-drama TV shows. These shows completely screw up the concept of "reasonable doubt" in many small minds.
Whatever evidence is presented in the court trial had better be fucking PERFECTLY airtight and simple or else some cop-hating pinheads on the jury are going to use their doubt as an excuse to give murderous thugs a "not guilty".
I read the description of the vile thug Trayvon Ramos' friends and family in jaw gaping disgust and amazement that in our very midst there exists a parallel universe of useless creeps with absolutely no decency, dignity, or intelligence. Yet how many of these losers are still (unbelievably) considered qualified to sit on a Baltimore jury? Maybe when the rage at these worthless pieces of s*** getting aquitted boils over and a few of these smirking bastards are dragged into the street and bashed int pieces, maybe then we'll get some federal help in overhauling our dysfunctional justice system.
There's sort of a presumption that the jury pool can wrap its mind around the concept of 'reasonablness', isn't there ?

Does this mean that Mary died and her friend is the museum's receptionist and they were both on the roof at 2:30 a.m.?
When I hear about the actions and lack of remorse shown by Mr. Sowers' attackers, I honestly start to think that some beings are essentially soulless and subhuman.
I think that sometimes too. Empathy and caring about other people's feelings is something babies aren't born with but develop at toddler/preschool age and I think if young kids who have parents who are drug addict zombies who don't interact with them, they grow up with that part of their brains shrunken like a prune.
I know you're right, Cybrarian. I've also heard from psychologist friends of mine that even sociopaths soften up a bit and gain powers of empathy when they reach their mid-40s. So I guess if those kids live that long (which I highly doubt), there's still some hope for them to, you know, feel some remorse for the unspeakable evil they've foisted upon Mr. Sowers and his family.

I was reading the comments on this page.IT makes me sick to know that these so called children are our future.I noticed the victim in the last comment is not even on this page as a victim of 2007.how is that.This victim Carl Lackl life was taken by a violent crime.I went futher to search about this and found that Mr.lackl was to be a key witness to a murder he witnessed on his lunch break from work.A job he worked at for 20 years.His testamony was turned over to public records.Mr.Lackl nor his family were aware of this.His wife did not want him to go to the police with his imformation,because she was afriad for there family.Mr.Lackl said to his wife I would never let anything happen to you or our children.Then he went on to say if this would have happen in our family we would want someone to come forward and help our family.My heart goes out to her.City Prosecuters say Mr lackl's recorded testimony could still be used in the trial if his death is linked to witness intimidation.If,if,if,thats all we ever hear.The thug Mr.Lackl was to testify against was already out on the streets because his last charge for first degree murder of another victim were dropped.So why can't they use his testimony even if were not linked to being a witness.Mr.lackl has already lost his life because of this murderer.The state needs to do the right thing I mean after all the man lost his life and his family lost him because he did the right thing.I guess thats why it's called the criminal justice system,because it's all for the criminal.Just look at the account from Zach Sowers friend.At the arraignment of the animals who attack Mr. Sowers these low life thugs came into the court room with smiles on there faces.The Sowers family and friends had to just sit there and watch as these bastards smiled and laughed with there family.It makes me sick.My heart and prayers go out to them.These kids are the scum of this earth,and they keep letting them out of jail to cause more pain and devastation.Johnathon Cornish is a 15yr. old thug and from his comment from jail,he is also racial.He stated to friends after killing Mr lackl.I just shoot a white guy 3 times in the chest with a .44-caliber handgun.That sounds like a hate crime to me.Yes thats what I say"where are the NAACP.This 15yr.olds so called mother Sharon Cornish's had the nerve to say her son is a respectful well-behaved teenager,who has had some run-ins with the law but called it minor.Then she added he is a teenager he's going through a stage.Let me just say to her.The word minor is the age of your killer son but Ms Cornish even that has changed, because now your so called teenager is now a man.Did you not know he is now being charged with FIRST DEGREE MURDER.So the next time he cries and says he wants to pray.Tell your killer son to be a man and PRAY FOR HIS LIFE.Ronald Williams is also charged with first degree murder for the death of Mr.lackl.
